Convicted sex offender accused of assaulting woman in his St. Paul apartment
A 60-year-old St. Paul, Minnesota, man has been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree assault after a woman was found unresponsive in his apartment, according to court records filed on Friday. Charges say that a Ramsey County probation officer was conducting a random check on Anthony Dewalt at his apartment on the 500 block of Stryker Avenue during the afternoon of Aug. 5. Dewalt was on intensive supervised release for a prior first-degree criminal sexual assault conviction at that time. The officer during the check allegedly noticed blood on Dewalt's chest. Court documents say it appeared there was another person in the home when the officer entered. According to charges, the probation officer told Dewalt to have the other person come out. Dewalt said his friend was in the bathtub and wasn't able to come out. The officer allegedly looked in Dewalt's bedroom and saw a knife with a red, blood-like substance on it. The officer had Dewalt open the bathroom door and saw an unresponsive woman who was naked in the bathtub, charges said. The faucet in the tub was turned on and was filling it with cold water. The officer then called police. As law enforcement entered the apartment, Dewalt allegedly yelled, "I'm ready for you" and raised his hands as if he was prepared to fight, charges say. He was "secured" by police shortly after, and officers then found the woman. Police started CPR on the woman and administered Narcan before she was taken to the hospital. The officer administering CPR noted that her body contained marks of trauma, according to court documents. Medical staff at the hospital the woman may have been sexually assaulted due to the injuries on her body, and ordered a sexual assault examination. Charges say the results of the examination showed she had bruising throughout her body, a swollen lower lip, a cut on her chest "consistent with bite marks" and black hair consistent with Dewalt's hair. The woman, when speaking with police, said she didn't know the extent of her injuries and had no memory of the assault or events leading up to it, charges say. Dewalt was arrested at the scene after the parole officer obtained a warrant based on multiple probation violations. When speaking with investigators, Dewalt said the woman was a friend who helped him clean and cook, and added they didn't have sexual involvement, according to charges. He said that she went to use the bathroom at some point, and that he checked on her "after a period of time." Dewalt told police he found her unresponsive and groggy in the bathtub, charges say. He said he poured water on her to revive her, and that the probation officer showed up after that. Court documents say that Dewalt claimed the blood and scratches on his chest were from when he was lying with the woman and trying to revive her. Dewalt was convicted in 2007 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct of a child under the age of 13. A judge at that time sentenced him to life in prison. The sentence was overturned in 2008 by the Minnesota Court of Appeals, which ruled the lower court "lacked authority to impose an enhanced life sentence" without convening a grand jury, according to court documents. Dewalt was resentenced in 2009 to 12 years in prison. Jul. 14—A Mapleview man charged in multiple cases of criminal sexual conduct with a child has had one of those cases dismissed. Joshua Alan Lamaack, 45, had a felony charge of first degree criminal sexual conduct and third degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor dismissed on Friday when the prosecution submitted in Mower County District Court the intent to dismiss on July 10, listing in court documents the reason of being in the interest of justice. This leaves two cases remaining — one that dates back to 2023 and the other dating back to 2024. The case that was dismissed was the one most recent of the three cases to be brought against Lamaack, who was accused of allegedly assaulting three separate victims over the span of years with some of the victims being under the age of 10 when the abuse started and lasting into their teens.. It should be noted that the charges in the two remaining cases all have maximum sentences of 30 years in prison and/or a $40,000 fine. The first degree criminal sexual conduct charge that was dismissed carried with it the same maximums, but the third degree criminal sexual conduct charge carries with it a max prison sentence of 15 years and/or a $30,000 fine. In the two remaining cases, requests in both were made by prosecuting attorneys and granted regarding presentation of evidence related to aggravated sentencing factors being sought in the case. Lamaack was first charged in November of 2023 with felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, penetration or contact with a person under 13 and felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree-injury-use of force/coerce. In that case he was accused of sexually abusing a child from the time he was 11 to around 17-years-old. He was charged again in July of 2024 with three more felony counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. Two of those are related to the victim being under 13 to 15, and the third is for the use of a dangerous weapon. Lamaack is scheduled for pre-trial on April 10, 2026 with a trial scheduled for April 20.

Burnsville High School boys volleyball coach charged with criminal sexual conduct
A Twin Cities high school boys volleyball coach faces criminal sexual conduct charges. Prosecutors allege Brooke Reinhardt, 24, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old player. Her alleged conduct was discovered after the victim's wallet was found at the home of a friend for whom Reinhardt was housesitting, a criminal complaint states. The friend said the victim "had never been in [his] residence and had no reason to be." When police interviewed the victim, he initially said he "had not spent any time with just [Reinhardt] aside from their sport." After police found texts on his phone from Reinhardt saying "he had a lot of things to delete," as well as "texts about condoms," he admitted to the criminal sexual conduct, the complaint states. Reinhardt also denied the conduct initially, but later admitted it, according to the complaint. She faces three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct. Reinhardt was hired by the district in September 2023 and was listed on the Burnsville High School boys' volleyball page as the sole coach. In a letter to families, the district wrote in part, "The District is limited by state law on the information we can release regarding personnel, but please know that we have and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement regarding this matter, and will take appropriate actions as dictated by district policies and state law. Following these upsetting allegations, the school and district's immediate and primary concern is for the well-being of our students." In regard to Reinhardt's status with the school, the district said she "is a coach only and doesn't hold any other position." The school district encouraged family members or students who have concerns, questions or information to contact the school directly or Assistant Superintendent Dr. Chris Bellmont at cbellmont@ Sexual Assault Resources General Sites for information related to sexual assault and resources throughout Minnesota: General Sexual Assault Websites: If you know of a child who may have been a victim of exploitation, call the National Center for Missing or Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 or visit the website.
