Thief takes car on dangerous joyride after finding it unattended, unlocked and running in Vancouver
A Vancouver man says he's learned a valuable lesson after someone stole his car when he momentarily left it unattended and unlocked with the engine running. It happened on Abbott Street near Pender Street on Monday afternoon, when Michael Aresta parked and ducked into a store. 'It was very quick, right? Just a minute and a half. It's a lesson learned for sure, right? A few seconds, a minute, it's just not worth it, right? It could happen anywhere,' Aresta told CTV News. His car is equipped with a dash cam and a rear-facing camera. Video footage shows him on foot chasing his own car down Abbott for two blocks before he actually caught up to it near Expo Boulevard. 'Here's exactly when I catch up to her here. I bang on the window. She speeds off. As you can see here, just no regard,' he said, as he pointed at a computer monitor showing the video. That's when the thief began to drive erratically. She ran multiple red lights, narrowly missing pedestrians and cyclists. She swerved around another car to enter a bike lane – knocking down plastic barriers at either end before turning onto Main Street and speeding away. At one point, while exiting a gas station, the thief drove on the wrong side of the road, dodging oncoming traffic before jumping the median and returning to the right side of the road. 'I've had a chance to look at a video that is apparently related to this theft,' said Vancouver police spokesperson Const. Jason Doucette. 'We're still investigating at this point, but the driving was atrocious. It was dangerous. It was selfish. Needless to say, many people could have been hurt.' At 10 p.m. that evening, a South Vancouver resident called police to say an unoccupied vehicle had been parked in front of their home with the engine running for two hours. Attending police were able to confirm it was Aresta's stolen Kia Sol. According to Aresta, the woman who stole his car was briefly captured by his dash cam as she approached. Doucette confirms police have identified a person of interest. 'And now, we're slowing things down. Everyone's safe. We're trying to work backwards to ensure that we have the best evidence to give to Crown to support hopefully upcoming charges,' he said. Aresta is grateful nothing tragic happened. 'I watched that footage back and I was so surprised that nobody was hurt,' he said about the dangerous joyride.

Idiot e-scooter riders get instant karma when they crash into EACH OTHER while hurtling down pavement on quiet road
WATCH the hilarious moment e-scooter riders get instant karma after speeding on the pavement as they crash into one another. The video, taken on a dash cam, shows two teenagers recklessly riding e-scooters on the pavement of a quiet road in Bedfordshire. 5 5 5 As the footage begins, a rider wearing a light-coloured tracksuit can be seen speeding along the pavement. Suddenly, another rider appears in the corner of the video as he races down a side road. He then mounts the same pavement the driver has already occupied, unaware of the impending collision. Both riders appear to be moving at speed, as neither slows down in time to avoid the head-on crash. The rider wearing black tracksuit looks like he's trying to swerve out of the way - but it's already far too late. As the pair collide at the corner of the road, the force pushes them both off their vehicles. The first e-scooter rider comes out worse for wear, as he is knocked backwards into the air. He is quickly knocked to the ground, landing on his wrist as he falls off the pavement. Meanwhile, the other rider appears to have been knocked backwards, although he does at least seem to mostly land in the grass. As the driver passes by, the grey-tracksuit teenager can be seen lying on his back on the road. Moment phone snatcher receives instant karma as he's knocked off his bike by furious Londoners Both of their e-scooters lie tangled together on the pavement as the video cuts out. It's not the first time that motorists have faced immediate consequences for their reckless driving. Dashcam footage captured the moment a driver faced instant karma when he tried to brake check a lorry. Driving on the motorway, the idiotic driver cuts in front of the lorry, forcing him to quickly slam on his breaks. However, the dangerous manoeuvre caught the attention of nearby police, as two motorbikes quickly flank the car and get him to pull over. The risky move is also sometimes called a "cash for crash" scam, as the drivers hope to claim on their insurance if it ends badly. After making some hand gestures at the police bikes, the driver is seen compliantly pulling off at an exit road. Another driver faced similar consequences for his behaviour after undertaking a fellow motorist. Captured on dashcam footage, video shows a black car attempting to get ahead of traffic on a busy motorway, by cutting in from the bus lane at the last second. The manoeuvre forces the silver car to brake sharply, as the driver then pulls across a solid white line to mimic the same technique as his rival. However, he probably wasn't too pleased when the black SUV turned on its blue lights, revealing itself to be an unmarked police car. 5 5
