Sailing club enjoys an action-packed week of events
Tenby Sailing Club hosted dinghy racing national championships between August 2 and 8.
In the GP 14 Class 37 entrants from as far afield as Scotland, Ireland and the Netherlands sailed eight races. First place went to Jasper Barnham and Graham Sexton, of Snettisham Beach SC / Fishers Green SC. Second were Keith and Mateo Louden, Loch Foyle YC, and third were John Hayes and Joel James, of Southport SC.
Thirteen boats completed nine races in the Enterprise Class.
The results were: 1 Jeremy and Rebecca Stephens, Penzance SC; 2 Charles Morrish and Dan Swaffield, St Marys Loch SC; and 3 Jonathan Woodward and Alex Homer, South Staffs SC.
In the Miracle Class 16 boats sailed nine races.
The results were: 1 Carolynn and Nick Smith, Thornbury SC; 2 Simon Turnbull and Keira Edwards, Neyland YC; and 3 Hannah Metcalfe-Smith and Lilly Brown, Thornbury SC.
Thanks go to all the volunteers and organisers who made this triple event so successful for the sixty visiting crews.
On August 8: Redwings: Five crews enjoyed a rally good club race around fixed marks in the North Bay, with a fresh breeze and gusts over 15kts.
Michelle and Simon set the course and noted the results: 1 Dan and Matt; 2 Robin and Julian; 3 Alex and Dan Shaw; 4 Bill and Peter; and 5 Kevin and Martin.
The 2025 National Redwing Championships will take place in Tenby from August 23 to 29.
On Saturday August 9, after a concentrated week of racing, a large group of club members in five Rhibs and three cruisers enjoyed a day out, cruising to Caldey and back to a beach near Monkstone, for a barbecue.
Junior training will continue from August 13 to September17 with the exception of August 27.
