Golden Retriever's Pure Excitement Over Seeing Friends at Day Care Is Everything
Considering just how important socializing our pets is, it's no surprise that some dogs really thrive in doggy day care. If their humans can't be around, they're all about getting in some playtime with other pups and hanging out with their friends. On Thursday, May 22, @cookiethegoldenretriver1 on TikTok shared this footage of the excitement her Golden Retriever has when it's time to see her friends at school. Nobody better get in her way, or they're getting knocked over! Here, we see Cookie right at the door, absolutely losing her mind with how excited she is to get in there and play. It's kind of mind blowing just how fast her little paws are going, trying to get that door. She might be setting a new record or something. Safe to say that day care must be one of her very favorite places. If Mom ever worries about her when she's not around, this must be a pretty reassuring sight to see! While watching the other videos that Cookie's mom has shared on TikTok, it seems like this Golden Retriever doesn't just love her friends hard — she loves her people just as much. For example, she might be a dog, but this is a straight up bear hug that Cookie is giving her kid! There's truly nothing better than snuggling with your pup, especially if your dog loves hugs like Cookie does, so I know her kiddo must have been on cloud nine! And in another TikTok video, Cookie is waiting so patiently by the window for her dad to come home and watching that driveway like a hawk. I can only imagine the happiness that ensues when they are reunited at the end of the day. Cookie has such a big heart and so much excitement to give. Never change, Cookie! 🐶🐾🐾 Golden Retriever's Pure Excitement Over Seeing Friends at Day Care Is Everything first appeared on Parade Pets on May 25, 2025

Mission weighs permit for business to purchase Unleashed Pet Rescue
MISSION, Kan. — A troubled Johnson County animal shelter may soon be replaced by a new business. Wednesday, a Mission city council committee learned more about a special use permit request to operate a doggy daycare in the building. That permit, that's key to ownership changing hands now, heads to the full City Council for a vote in two weeks. The building on Broadmoor Street, near Johnson Dive, is currently home to Unleashed Pet Rescue. The shelter has been the center of several FOX4 Problem Solvers reports. In early 2023, volunteers and others who'd visited Unleashed Pet Rescue in Mission started reporting concerns about animals' conditions and violations on state inspections. Neighbors in Gardner come together to help displaced apartment residents By the end of the year, the Kansas Department of Agriculture said the shelter no longer had a valid license and was seeking an immediate injunction on the shelter's operations. On Wednesday, the KDA said that Unleashed still doesn't have an active license, though it continues to advertise adoptions on social media and hours were posted on a handwritten sign on the shelter's door. The state said the matter remains under litigation. Last spring, attorneys for Unleashed confirmed the building at 5918 Broadmoor was going up for sale, and it's been on the market ever since. Now, an Olathe man who owns KC K9s says there's a contract in place to purchase the building and wants to open a Playful Pack doggie daycare and overnight boarding facility. Conditions of the special use permit will require an AstroTurf-type animal activity area and prohibit any employee from washing animal waste out of the activity area. The city said Unleashed Pet Rescue had previously been cited for hosing animal waste onto the street and into the stormwater sewer system. The applicant, who did not respond to FOX4's request for comment, is expected to be at the meeting when the matter heads to the full city council on May 21. The permit also requires the new owner to get a license from the Kansas Department of Agriculture. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
