TxDOT warns of high waters amid roadway flooding
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Texas Department of Transportation's San Angelo district is warning drivers to avoid driving on flooded roadways after reporting that the San Saba River is several feet over the road in parts of Menard County. TxDOT issued a warning via social media in the morning of June 4, advising motorists traveling through Menard County and Kimble County to be aware of high water on roads. 'Several of our roads are closed due to high water,' TxDOT said. Footage published by the agency shows the San Saba River flowing over FM 2092's river crossing, also known as Tenmile Crossing. The video shows the river submerging the roadway for a distance, with nearby trees having the entirety or majority of their trunks underwater. As of the time of publication, interactive map indicates that a section of FM 2092 beginning just east of the city of Menard and ending at State Highway 29 has been closed due to flooding. The closure is currently slated to conclude at 3 p.m. on June 4. In the comments of its warning post, TxDOT provided a photo of the San Saba River flooding a section of FM 1311. The agency stated that the river is '7 feet over the road' in the image. indicates that a section of FM 1311 spanning from State Highway 29 to County Road 110 has been closed due to flooding, with the closure being scheduled to end at 10 a.m. June 5. Meanwhile, a section of FM 1311 spanning from County Road 110 to U.S. Route 190 is listed as being flooded, with the listing expected to end at 1:30 p.m. on June 5. TxDOT urged drivers not to attempt to drive through flooded roadways. It encouraged motorists to find alternative routes and check to identify active road closures before traveling. Map shows chance of snow for Dallas, Fort Worth and rest of North Texas
FORT WORTH - A winter storm warning is in effect for North Texas from 6 a.m. Thursday until 12 p.m. Friday. Moisture is expected to move into the Metroplex starting Thursday morning, leading to a mixture of precipitation, including rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet. Around midday, the transition to snow could occur, with heavier snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible later in the day. Due to the variability in temperatures, the types of precipitation may change frequently from rain, freezing rain, and snow making it essential to stay updated. Some areas, particularly to the north and east, could see snowfall totals of 9 inches or more, that's snowfall—not necessarily what you will see on the ground.
