TxDOT warns of high waters amid roadway flooding
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Texas Department of Transportation's San Angelo district is warning drivers to avoid driving on flooded roadways after reporting that the San Saba River is several feet over the road in parts of Menard County.
TxDOT issued a warning via social media in the morning of June 4, advising motorists traveling through Menard County and Kimble County to be aware of high water on roads.
'Several of our roads are closed due to high water,' TxDOT said.
Footage published by the agency shows the San Saba River flowing over FM 2092's river crossing, also known as Tenmile Crossing. The video shows the river submerging the roadway for a distance, with nearby trees having the entirety or majority of their trunks underwater.
As of the time of publication, drivetexas.org's interactive map indicates that a section of FM 2092 beginning just east of the city of Menard and ending at State Highway 29 has been closed due to flooding. The closure is currently slated to conclude at 3 p.m. on June 4.
In the comments of its warning post, TxDOT provided a photo of the San Saba River flooding a section of FM 1311. The agency stated that the river is '7 feet over the road' in the image.
Drivetexas.org indicates that a section of FM 1311 spanning from State Highway 29 to County Road 110 has been closed due to flooding, with the closure being scheduled to end at 10 a.m. June 5. Meanwhile, a section of FM 1311 spanning from County Road 110 to U.S. Route 190 is listed as being flooded, with the listing expected to end at 1:30 p.m. on June 5.
TxDOT urged drivers not to attempt to drive through flooded roadways. It encouraged motorists to find alternative routes and check drivetexas.org to identify active road closures before traveling.
'Do NOT attempt to cross,' TxDOT said. 'Turn around and find an alternate route. Your life is worth more than a shortcut.'

Fundraiser started after 5-vehicle crash ‘totaled' family's only car
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A San Angelo family has launched a GoFundMe online fundraiser after a crash involving five vehicles reportedly resulted in their only car being 'wrecked and left totaled.' The crash occurred on Wednesday, June 4, near the 600 block of West 29th Street. According to a San Angelo Police Department officer at the scene, the collision happened after a white Chevrolet Suburban traveling westbound on 29th Street crashed into a silver Nissan Sentra that was traveling eastbound on the same street. The Suburban then left the roadway, striking a blue Chevy Colorado before continuing into a parking lot just outside of a nearby Cato Fashions store located in a strip mall. The vehicle then struck a silver Dodge Challenger, which in turn was pushed into a dark gray Dodge Challenger. The SAPD told a Concho Valley Homepage reporter that the driver of the Suburban may have suffered a medical complication while driving, causing the crash. The motorist was transported to the hospital. Johnny Guinan, the fundraiser's organizer, said he now owes $15,000 despite the car's estimated value being 'only $5,000.' Worsening matters for the family is their financial situation before the five-vehicle crash. Guinan stated on the webpage that an injury caused by a crash that occurred approximately one year ago has 'drained' the family's savings and forced him to switch jobs.
