Trade for These TEs in Dynasty Fantasy Football

TAMPA, FLORIDA - OCTOBER 27: Kyle Pitts #8 of the Atlanta Falcons runs for extra yardage after a ... More reception against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the second quarter at Raymond James Stadium on October 27, 2024 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by) If you haven't read any of my other work about players to buy in dynasty fantasy football, we've covered running back, wide receiver, and quarterback. Now it's time to dive into the tight ends. As always, we'll be targeting players who can provide value to any dynasty team, no matter what stage you're in. For that reason, we'll be looking at three young players who should increase in value from the current market price. In order to get a baseline for these market prices, we'll refer to Keep Trade Cut. With that being said, let's dive into the article. Trade for These TEs in Dynasty Fantasy Football A lot of people are going to be scared away from Kyle Pitts, and that's totally understandable. Since coming into the league with high expectations, Pitts has let fantasy owners down every single year. That being said, the upside is worth the risk. Pitts is going at the TE12 range, and you're not going to find a difference maker outside the top five in most seasons. If Pitts can finally break out this season, there's a very good chance he becomes a top three tight end dynasty. Just looking back to November 3rd of 2021, Pitts was able to keep his TE1 status all the way through October 2nd of 2022. When evaluating Pitts as a prospect, he was just as good, if not better, than Brock Bowers, who is the 10th-ranked player (TE1) in dynasty fantasy football. Pitts is a 6'6' and 246 lb tight end who also ran an unofficial 4.44, 40-yard dash. At Florida, Pitts showed that he can play anywhere on the field with elite releases and the ability to high-point the football. With Pitts being a younger prospect, he's still just 24 years old, and tight ends typically take longer to break out due to the complex nature of the position. Now Darnell Mooney is missing valuable time with sophomore quarterback Michael Penix Jr, giving Pitts time to take over that number two target role. It's certainly a risk based on what we've seen from Pitts so far, but the upside is worth it. Outside of Pitts, these last two players are outside of the top 30 tight ends. While Pitts is fairly cheap, these other tight ends are effectively lottery tickets. Michael Mayer is one of the more interesting players in dynasty because he's also only 24 years old. Mayer wasn't an elite prospect, but he was highly talked about and was selected 35th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. While Mayer got to start 12 games as a rookie, he didn't find much success, only drawing 40 targets, catching 27 of them for 304 yards. Then, just a year later, the Las Vegas Raiders shocked a lot of people by selecting Bowers. We talked about how good Bowers is above, and this move tanked Mayer's dynasty value. Mayer was once the TE8 in dynasty (April 8th, 2023) and has now dropped down to TE33. While Mayer isn't going to overcome Bowers, he's set to become a free agent in 2027, which could lead to the Raiders trading him even sooner than that. If Mayer lands in a new home, he should skyrocket in value as people will remember the prospect that he was at Notre Dame. SYRACUSE, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 17: Oronde Gadsden II #19 of the Syracuse Orange scores a touchdown ... More during the fourth quarter against the Purdue Boilermakers at JMA Wireless Dome on September 17, 2022 in Syracuse, New York. (Photo by Bryan M. Bennett/Getty Images) The last player on this list is Oronde Gadsden, a rookie. Gadsden is going just behind Mayer at TE34, but he has the worst draft capital of anyone on this list. Gadsden was a 5th-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft due to the fact that he's not a typical tight end. At 6'5' and 236 lbs, Gadsden is very undersized in terms of his weight to be an NFL starter. Gadsden fails to pick up blockers due to his size, which is going to limit him in the NFL. That said, Gadsden could be used as a 'big slot,' which would be the best-case scenario for his fantasy football impact. At Syracuse, Gadsden actually started out as a wide receiver, and he caught 61 passes for 975 yards as a sophomore. Gadsden would make the switch just one year later, before only playing in two games during that 2023 season. In 2024, though, Gadsden had 73 catches for 934 yards as a tight end. Gadsden would post a 4.65, 40-yard dash, which helped him score a 'great' composite speed score per his Relative Athletic Score. The Los Angeles Chargers are an offense without an established number two target, which makes Gadsden extremely interesting. Tre Harris and Quentin Johnston are the two main threats right now, but neither has proven themselves yet. With Justin Herbert at the helm, he should be able to get the most out of Gadsden. If Gadsden isn't used correctly, he'll almost certainly flame out, but at cost, he's worth the risk in dynasty fantasy football.

Ben Johnson wants to build dynasty with Chicago Bears

There is no denying the impression that Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has made early on in the first few days of training camp this summer. Several players have noticed the attention to detail and intensity from Johnson early on in training camp, including veteran safety Kevin Byard, who's entering his second season with Chicago. He's been a great veteran presence for the defense and team as a whole, and he sees Johnson's vision for this team. Earlier this week, Byard raved about how Johnson "breathes competition" and his energy "raises the level of everybody on the team." Also, Johnson is already talking about a building something lasting in Chicago. "We're trying to win the Super Bowl," Byard said. "Ben Johnson wants to build a dynasty. We want to be the guys who get this thing started. I want to be one of the guys who kind of builds the foundation of that and continue to go as long as we possibly can. That's the goal, but we have a long way to go to be able to accomplish that." Having a respected veteran like Byard buying into Johnson's philosophy, it's a big sign of leadership for this franchise. Johnson clearly wants to build a foundation of winning in Chicago, and getting team leaders like Byard to buy in will be crucial to building a culture that leads to success. MIAMI GARDENS, FL - SEPTEMBER 12: Tua Tagovailoa #1 of the Miami Dolphins warms up prior to an NFL ... More football game against the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium on September 12, 2024 in Miami Gardens, FL. (Photo by) Training camp has officially started, and the NFL season is almost here. With more information coming out about some of these players, it's important to understand their value in dynasty fantasy football. Now the players on this list will all be targets more for superflex or 2QB leagues. While the last two players could hold value in a 1QB league if they hit big, these players are strong QB2 options. All three players are valued below QB24 on Keep Trade Cut, making them viable options for any team build. Let's dive right into the list. Buy These Quarterbacks in Dynasty Fantasy Football There was once a time when Tua Tagovailoa was being valued as a top 12 quarterback on KTC. While Tagovailoa may not get back up to the QB8 range due to his injury history, it's easier to believe that he will rise closer to QB12 than fall anymore. At QB25 right now, this seems like rock bottom for Tagovailoa, barring a serious injury, which is impossible to predict. Tagovailoa is a talented player who scored 17.8 PPG in 2022, then threw for 4,624 yards (15.9 PPG) in 2023. Tyreek Hill is back for another year, De'Von Achane is heading into year three, and Jaylen Waddle is the X factor for this offense. Waddle has been banged up the past few years, but the last time he played in 17 games was in 2022. Waddle had 75 catches for 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns. If Waddle can get back to that form after failing to go over 1,050 receiving yards since, Tagovailoa will benefit in a big way. Finally, the Miami Dolphins selected Jonah Savaiinaea in round two of the NFL Draft to help protect Tagovailoa. Jalen Milroe isn't a quarterback you can start this year, but he's a player who is highly unlikely to ever go much further than this in his career. Right now, Milroe is stuck behind Sam Darnold after being drafted in the 3rd round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Milroe is just a rookie, and I broke down his entire prospect profile in this linked article. The main takeaway from my prospect evaluation of Milroe is that he's an elite runner. Not only does the film back this, but his rushing stats are phenomenal. During Milroe's final year of college, he had 726 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. Keep in mind that sacks count as negative rushing yards in college. Darnold had a great year, but he was in one of the best situations in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. Darnold had never thrown for more than 3,100 yards in any of his first six seasons, indicating that this success might be unstable. With how cheap Milroe is, he's absolutely worth a shot. The upside is that he has a career similar to Justin Fields, where he's fantasy-relevant solely from his rushing upside. Although Fields is the QB24 now, he peaked as the QB7. INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - OCTOBER 08: Anthony Richardson #5 of the Indianapolis Colts throws a pass ... More against the Tennessee Titans during the first quarter at Lucas Oil Stadium on October 08, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by) The last player on our list, Anthony Richardson, is very similar to Milroe. Although Richardson hasn't shown much as a passer, his rushing upside is through the roof. Richardson had 18.2 PPG in four games as a rookie and 14.9 PPG last season. Last year, Richardson had 499 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. The downside with Richardson is that he's battling for the starting spot, he's failed to stay healthy (15 games in two years), and if he doesn't take a step up as a passer, his future as a starter could be up in the air. The case for Richardson is that he was the 4th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, which showcases his upside. Since the Indianapolis Colts are very invested in Richardson, there's a good chance he'll get one more year to prove himself. With Richardson, you're getting a quarterback that could be a sleeper to finish as a low-end QB1 this year due to his rushing ability. Not only that, but Richardson has the upside to shoot up dynasty fantasy football rankings if he does put things together. Keep in mind that Richardson was the QB6 on KTC back in September of 2024.

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - AUGUST 24: Michael Pittman Jr. #11 of the Indianapolis Colts runs ... More during an NFL preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on August 24, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by) After talking running backs to buy in dynasty fantasy football, it's clear what we need to do next. Move on to the wide receivers. One again, all of the wide receivers on this list are very affordable, and any team build could buy them. With wide receivers having a long shelf life, they're much better investments than running backs. No matter if you're a contender or a rebuilder, these three players are going to be great to own in dynasty fantasy football. Buy These Wide Receivers in Dynasty Fantasy Football Just a few years ago, I was extremely out on Michael Pittman due to his price tag. However, right now, Pittman has fallen all the way down to WR49 on Keep Trade Cut. On July 18th of 2024, Pittman was ranked as the WR20, showing how big of a fall off he's had. The reason for that was a rough 2024 season. Following a 15.6 PPG season (PPR) in 2023, Pittman played in 16 games and had just 10.4 PPG. Now I'm willing to excuse this poor play based on the results that came out. Pittman was reportedly playing through a low back fracture, one that could have landed him on the injured reserve list. If you take a look at what Pittman did in 2023, he had a strong YPRR mark at 2.04, 53.6 contested catch percentage, and an 80 PFF receiving grade. At 27 years old, you should expect a bounce-back from Pittman after having an off-season to recover. With questions around Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, it would be too much to have Pittman super close to that WR20 range. However, he should sit much closer to the WR30 mark than the WR49 mark, where he is right now. Jalen Coker was a big-time sleeper coming into his rookie season. As an undrafted free agent from Holy Cross, no one expected anything from Coker. In just 11 games, Coker put up an impressive 478 receiving yards when you consider that Bryce Young only had 2,403 passing yards. Xavier Legette was selected 32nd overall in the NFL Draft, but he only had 497 receiving yards in 16 games. Although Legette has more of a team investment, he's on an even playing field with Coker now. If Coker continues to look better than him, he's going to get the reps. The Carolina Panthers have already shown that they don't love Legette by adding Tetairoa McMillan in the 2025 NFL Draft. This take is a mixture of my belief in Coker taking a leap in year two and my lack of conviction that Legette will pan out at the NFL level. Legette took until his 5th year at South Carolina to have a season with over 200 receiving yards, which isn't a great sign. With Young continuing to develop, Coker has the skillset to become the Panthers WR2 next to McMillan. ARLINGTON, TX - SEPTEMBER 28: Arkansas Razorbacks wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa (4) runs the ball after ... More a reception against the Texas A&M Aggies during the Southwest Classic game on September 28, 2024 at ATT Stadium in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by William Purnell/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) The last player on this list is rookie Isaac TeSlaa, who's being slept on by the dynasty community. One key piece of information that people are glancing over is what the Detroit Lions gave up for TeSlaa. In order to select TeSlaa at pick 70, the Lions gave up the 102nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on top of two third-round picks. The Lions would also receive a 6th-round pick in 2024 and a 6th-round pick in 2025, but the price was expensive nonetheless. TeSlaa came out of Arkansas, where he never posted great stats, only recording 545 receiving yards in 13 games. That said, TeSlaa looked good on film when I watched him. He recorded a solid 1.97 YPRR mark, 14.3 ADOT, and he had a 71.4 contested catch percentage. While the Lions offense is in a place to take a step back after losing Ben Johnson, they still led the NFL with 33.1 PPG. Even if the Lions take a big step back, you can expect them to be a top 10 offense. While Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jameson Williams are in town, TeSlaa could possibly replace Williams, who had 14.1 PPG in the long term. Williams is set to become a free agent in 2027, and when you look at how much the Lions invested in TeSlaa, it makes me believe they don't love their current wide receiver room. While there are quite a few things that need to break right at cost, TeSlaa is a great dart throw in dynasty fantasy football.
