Baby attacked with fire extinguisher on Sunshine Coast

A baby has been injured by an e-bike rider spraying a fire extinguisher into a car. Her parents took the five-month-old to hospital, where doctors flushed the baby's eyes. The mother described the baby being treated and crying as 'horrific'. The incident happened in the Sunshine Coast area of Sippy Downs on Sunday night. Police have secured a fire extinguisher, which was ditched nearby. Tiffani Teasdale, the mother of injured baby Pixie, told the ABC that as the family's car was stopped at traffic lights, two people on one e-bike pulled up next to the car. The pair sprayed a fire extinguisher into the vehicle. 'The car just filled up with gas and white powder straight away,' Ms Teasdale told the ABC. '(Pixie) was completely covered in white powder and just looked like she was in shock, she wasn't even crying. 'We were in hospital until very early morning and they had to put 100ml of saline solution into her eyes. 'I've never heard her scream like that before, I actually had to leave the room. 'The doctors had to hold her down for me because it was the most horrible thing I've ever heard … no one should have to go through that.' Police want anyone who was in the area of High St, near Sippy Downs Drive, between 7.30pm and 8.20pm on Sunday to come forward. In a statement, police say a 29-year-old male and the baby were in a silver Suzuki Vitara on High St at 7.50pm. 'The two offenders have ridden up beside the Suzuki and discharged a fire extinguisher into the vehicle before fleeing,' a police spokesperson said. 'The fire extinguisher believed to be the one used in the incident was located nearby on Stringybark Rd, Sippy Downs.' Taking to an online community page, Ms Teasedale said: 'I hope whoever has done this sees this posts and realises there will be consequences for your actions. 'A five-second dopamine rush is not worth someone's life. I could only imagine if this had been someone with respiratory issues.' A local car detailing business has offered to clean the family's vehicle, while the baby's pram, nappy bag and toys have been ruined.

WATCH: Teen on e-bike flees from Florida woman chasing him in SUV on walking path

PALM COAST, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman was caught on video driving her SUV onto a walking path and chasing after a teenager who was riding on an electric bicycle. The incident unfolded on June 7 in Palm Coast, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Boy, 16, fired shots at teen he planned to fight to feel 'like Superman': Polk deputies Deputies said they received a 911 call from another driver who saw the woman, identified as Julia Kalthof, 65, driving on Pine Lakes Path, a multi-use trail for pedestrians and bicyclists that runs along Pine Lakes Parkway. The caller's girlfriend was driving in a separate vehicle behind him and recorded the ordeal. Video shows Kalthof driving down the walking path and chasing the teen for almost a full minute. There was only about 6 to 10 feet in-between them, and witnesses reported seeing the teen waving cars down for help. The 911 caller then drove in front of Kalthof's SUV at an intersection to cut her off and stop her from chasing the teen. Video of the incident was sent to dispatchers via a new system that allows callers to share images or video directly from their phones. The 14-year-old victim rode off, but told his parents of the incident, and they reported it to law enforcement the next day. Deputies said Kalthof told them she had chased after the teen because she was angry at him for 'riding his e-bike too fast and wanted to find out where he lived to speak to his parents.' The victim said he was in fear for his life as Kalthof screamed at him, cut him off and nearly struck him. The teen also provided deputies with a video showing Kalthof driving aggressively on the path behind him, according to the sheriff's office. Officials decided to file charges against Kalthof, based on the evidence gathered. She was arrested on June 10 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and reckless driving. Kalthof was also issued a traffic citation for driving on the path. 'This woman caused a dangerous situation with her reckless and aggressive behavior and could have seriously hurt or killed not just the child she was chasing, but anyone who happened to be walking or biking on that path,' said Sheriff Rick Staly. 'I'm thankful that nobody was hurt, or she could be facing even more serious charges. I also want to thank the bystander who stopped a dangerous situation and called 911 so that our deputies could handle it, conduct their investigation, and arrest this driver who clearly needs anger management.' Florida law states that e-bikes can be ridden wherever bicycles are allowed, including bicycle lanes and bicycle or multi-use paths. 'E-bikes are becoming more and more prevalent in Palm Coast, and the riders need to control their speed and recklessness too,' Sheriff Staly added. 'The legislature needs to give us the new laws to address the behavior of these riders, such as limiting the allowed speed riders can go, just like cars.' Kalthof was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she was later released on a $3,000 bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. ‘Kind and gentle': Man dead after alleged drunken e-scooter incident

A man beloved by his community has died after a tragic e-bike incident on Saturday evening. Thanh Phan, 51, took a trip into the Perth CBD for dinner, but was struck by an e-scooter at the interception of Murray and King street. The e-scooter rider is a woman who police allege was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Mr Phan was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for surgery, where he remained in a critical condition before he died on Tuesday. The 51-year-old from Menora had built a loving community in his neighbourhood, with friends of the engineer expressing their condolences. 'On Saturday night, Thanh Phan – a beloved husband, father of two, brother, and dear friend – was struck by an electric scooter and critically injured,' the family said in a statement. 'Yesterday evening, we received the heartbreaking news that Thanh passed away as a result of his injuries. 'We ask that the media respect the privacy of Thanh's family as they grieve their loss. 'We also call for a review of the governance and safety regulations surrounding hired e-scooters to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk. 'The family has no other comment to make on the issue at this time.' Alicia Kemp, 24, is alleged by police to be riding the e-scooter under the influence of alcohol with a 26-year-old passenger, before she hit Mr Phan. The passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Ms Kemp is set to reappear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm – under the influence of alcohol, and dangerous driving causing bodily harm – under the influence of alcohol.
