Lions haven't had "any intense talks" with Aidan Hutchinson yet
The Lions want to sign star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson to a contract extension, but they have not had any "intense talks" yet. 'Look, we'll definitely get some dialogue going soon here, but those things take time, especially the larger the deal is," General Manager Brad Holmes said Wednesday on 97.1 The Ticket. Holmes said at the Scouting Combine that the Lions were in the "planning stages" for a Hutchinson extension. Since then, edge rushers Maxx Crosby (three years, $106.5 million), Myles Garrett (four years, $160 million) and T.J. Watt (three years, $123 million) have signed extensions. Hutchinson is scheduled to make $5.575 million this year and $19.872 million in 2026 on the fifth-year option. In three seasons, he has 28.5 sacks and 65 quarterback hits. He played only five games last season before fracturing his tibia and fibula in a game against the Cowboys, but he has returned looking like himself. 'As the player, he's [Hutchinson] looked great,' Holmes said, via Ryan Mathews of 'I'm really not all that surprised just because of tracking him since college, since his early days at Michigan, he had that big injury [fractured ankle] at Michigan, and he came back, I think nobody would argue, a better player. I don't want to say it's exactly the same because the games haven't kicked off yet, but what he's showing in practice, the change of direction, the explosiveness. I mean, he's not [showing] any effects, but I'm not surprised when a guy like him has that kind of mindset.'

Bears should consider Micah Parsons after trade request from Cowboys
Four years ago, the Chicago Bears traded up to select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. One pick later, the Dallas Cowboys took Penn State pass rusher Micah Parsons. Fields has yet to become a worthwhile starting quarterback in the NFL (now on his third team) while Parsons is a bonafide superstar. Chicago would have been much better off putting its QB troubles aside and selecting Parsons instead. But, that's in the past. Now in 2025, however, the Bears have a chance to make up for it. Due to contract negotiation issues, Parsons has officially requested a trade from the Cowboys. He posted his feelings on social media regarding the situation. While the Cowboys aren't interested in trading Parsons, per Albert Breer, everyone can be bought if the price is right. ESPN's Adam Schefter shared what a potential trade package for Parsons might look like, and it should look quite familiar to Bears fans as it's what Chicago gave up to acquire Khalil Mack back in 2018. And that certainly turned out well. This is a great opportunity for the Bears to address one of their biggest needs at edge rusher opposite Montez Sweat. If Parsons were added, he'd be in the conversation for the best player on the entire team. In just four years, Parsons is already incredibly accomplished. He's a four-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, Defensive Rookie of the Year and has totaled 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Plus, he's only 26 years old. Chicago hasn't been shy about this kind of move in its history. Something similar happened when they acquired Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders back in 2018. Once again, they'd be adding an elite talent on defense in his prime to a team ready to win. Every team in the league would like to make this happen, but few have what the Bears are offering right now. Quarterback Caleb Williams, head coach Ben Johnson, and a team ready to win have a lot of hype. Although they are focusing on improving the offense right now, the Bears have always been a proud defensive franchise. Parsons would add his name to an impressive list of superstars to wear the navy and orange. With defensive coordinator Dennis Allen leading the way on defense, this is a great opportunity for general manager Ryan Poles to make a huge move. Packers trade package that could land Bengals star Trey Hendrickson
If the Cincinnati Bengals make Trey Hendrickson available via trade, there are sure to be plenty of teams lining up to acquire his services, and the Green Bay Packers would likely be one of them. Hendrickson and the Bengals have been embroiled in contract talks this offseason and the process has been ugly. Reports suggest the two sides aren't close on a deal and Hendrickson, who held out from mandatory minicamp, has expressed his frustration with the process multiple times this offseason and doesn't plan to play without a new contract. "The Bengals would like a shorter deal. Hendrickson would like a longer deal. And they can't even find common ground on the length of the deal right now," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show last month. Meanwhile, the Packers are looking to take that next step in 2025 after being one-and-done in the playoffs last season. As a result, adding another edge rusher should be a top priority, as only two players on the team tallied five or more sacks in 2024. Adding Hendrickson would be just what the doctor ordered. He's one of the best edge rushers in the sport, as evidenced by his league-high 35 sacks the past two seasons, and his NFL-high 17.5 sacks in 2024. So, what's a trade package the Packers could offer to bring Hendrickson in? Packers-Bengals trade proposal Bengals get: DE Lukas Van Ness, 2026 second-round pick Packers get: DE Trey Hendrickson A trade package for Hendrickson will likely start with a second-round pick. It's possible a bidding war could bring it up to a first-rounder, especially given how important good edge rushers are, but the Bengals don't have much leverage to get one considering the circumstances, which include the acquiring team needing to extend Hendrickson to a big-money deal upon trading for him. From there, the Bengals could net a Day 3 pick in addition to the second-rounder, but chances are they'll be looking for a player who can fill Hendrickson's spot, which is where Van Ness comes into play. A former first-round pick, Van Ness has no doubt been disappointing after tallying just seven sacks over his first two seasons, including just three in 2024. However, perhaps a change of scenery will be just what he needs to get going. Making the Bengals' need to add another pass-rusher even more dire is the uncertainty surrounding rookie Shemar Stewart, who remains unsigned as Cincinnati prepares to begin training camp this coming week. Now, none of this is to say that the Bengals should trade Hendrickson. In fact, that would be an idiotic move considering Cincinnati's Super Bowl aspirations. But it's pretty clear the Bengals have no interest in paying Hendrickson what he deserves and he's no good to the franchise if he doesn't play. That scenario will leave Cincinnati without its best defender anyway, so the Bengals would be wise to try and get something for him instead.
