Hall declares victory over Davis for Fort Worth City Council District 6 seat

Dr. Mia Hall declared victory over opponent Daryl R. Davis II to the applause and cheers of friends, mentors and family Saturday night at her election watch party at Bowlounge. Unofficial polling data shows Hall leading with 57.12% over Davis's 42.88% in the race for the Fort Worth City Council District 6 seat. Allof the 19 polling locations are reporting. Hall will fill out-going Council Member Jared Williams's shoes to represent Southwest Fort Worth and Como. In the crowd during Hall's speech of thanks were Council Members Chris Nettles, Michael Crain and Elizabeth Beck and Crowley School Board Members Dr. Nedra Robinson and Chakina Watkins. Because none of the four candidates — Davis, Hall, Marshall Hobbs and Adrian Smith — received more than 50% of the votes on May 3, the top two vote-getters went to a runoff election. On May 3, Hall had 46.8% of the votes, followed by Davis with 28.49%, Hobbs with 21.57% and Smith with 3.14%. Now with early voting results, she leads by nearly 400 votes. There was a 4.47% voter turnout. Hall said she was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the voters. She was formerly a Crowley ISD Board Trustee and a member of the Fort Worth Zoning Commission. 'It's been my pleasure to to have served this community in the capacity of a trustee for the last 10 years,' Hall said, 'and just to see the voter turnout, and the fact that they are going to bestow or that I may have the opportunity to represent them as the District 6 councilwoman, is just very humbling.' Hall has promised safe neighborhoods, improved roads and infrastructure, enhanced city services and the fostering of economic development. 'I made promises to our neighbors, and I plan to honor those promises,' Hall said. 'Among those were to be responsive and to be accessible, and that's something that I want to be day one. The other part will be just getting my bearings meeting the other council men and women and me and my colleagues, and just getting my footing underneath me so that we can take the priorities that our District 6 neighbors have made and put them to work quickly, without delay.' Her opponent in the runoff, Davis, promised well-planned neighborhoods that are safe and affordable to live in.

BREAKING NEWS Humiliation for Zoe Daniel as Tim Wilson makes history to reclaim seat of Goldstein - after the Teal independent celebrated victory with a dance party

Tim Wilson will be reinstated as a federal MP after a historic win against the woman who declared victory against him on election night with a dance party. He has reclaimed the seat of Goldstein by a slim 124 votes over independent Teal Zoe Daniel, the woman who ousted him from the inner south-eastern three years ago. At the start of the final count today, Wilson led by 176 votes with 117 votes to be counted. Daniel was unable to close the gap before the Australian Electoral Commission confirmed Wilson had won. Wilson thanked his team on Tuesday night in an What's App message following his 'unprecedented' victory. 'Together we just broke three Australian political records,' he wrote. 'First team to retake the same seat lost to an Independent MP - ever! 'First team to defeat a Teal Independent MP - ever! 'First Liberal team in 110+ years to win a seat off an Independent MP elected a general election (and it has only been done once before - 1913 in Gippsland).' Daniel is yet to concede defeat. It comes after she lapped up the adulation of her adoring supporters as she declared victory on election night a fortnight ago. 'Titanium' by David Guetta blasted out as the crowd whooped and cheered while she walked to the stage. When she got there she threw both hands in the air, declaring that 'hope wins'. 'I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose,' the lyrics rang out as Daniel danced like woman possessed. She thanked her supporters, adding: 'What we have achieved here is extraordinary.' But within hours, as the vote count continued, it became clear that Daniel's seat was still on a knife edge. On Monday, even after she had walked back her victory claims, Daniel was still in the dancing mood. The Teal MP shared a video of her all-female office dancing wildly to Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club. 'It's a resilience test that's for sure,' she captioned the video. 'But no matter what, we will keep dancing. Her Liberal challenger Tim Wilson pulled ahead by almost 350 votes shortly before 1.30pm on Tuesday. With not enough votes left to save her, Daily Mail Australia political editor Peter van Onselen called the seat for Wilson. Sky News projected a Wilson victory just after 2pm. Daniel, 52, is a former longtime ABC foreign correspondent turned politician who campaigned on fighting climate change and addressing integrity issues in politics. She was elected among a wave of so-called Teal independents in 2022, defeating Wilson 52.87 per cent to 47.13 per cent. Wilson, 45, is a former assistant minister in Scott Morrison's government as the member for Goldstein from 2016 to 2022. He is a former Human Rights Commissioner and before that had a senior position at the right-wing think tank, the Institute of Public Affairs.

NIGEL FARAGE: Our victory was seismic and the Reform era is just starting. Here's everything my government would do - from ditching Net Zero to finally tackling immigration

'Britain is broken. Reform will fix it.' This slogan captured the feelings of millions of people in recent weeks and there is no doubt it helped Reform UK to become the first political party other than the Conservatives or Labour to win a nationally held election for more than 100 years. Our victory was seismic. The two old political parties have been shaken to the core. They will have to get used to this new political era because Reform UK is only just getting started.
