Poland Seeks to Revive ‘Equity Culture' With Tax-Break Proposal
Poland's Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski, a former stock-fund manager, wants to rebuild the country's ailing 'equity culture' to boost economic growth, starting with his plan for new savings accounts.
The proposed accounts, which eliminate capital-gains taxes up to a certain threshold, could attract as much as 100 billion zloty ($27 billion) within three years, Domanski said. More importantly, the initiative will help revive interest in equities from the country's traditionally risk-averse savers, he told Bloomberg News.
