Bolton road closures set to impact drivers over coming weeks

Drivers in Bolton should prepare for several road closures and restrictions as essential works are set to begin soon. St Helens Road will see a temporary suspension of the bus lane starting on August 5, 2025. The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm approximately, affecting the east side of St Helens Road. This suspension is to allow telecom works to take place and will last for 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever occurs first. Lord Street will be temporarily closed from August 12, 2025, for approximately one day. The restrictions are set to prohibit all traffic from proceeding on Lord Street from Albert Street to Seddon Street. This closure is necessary to allow for manhole repair works to take place. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route via Ainsworth Road, Victory Road, and High Street during this time. The order will remain in effect for 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever occurs first. Similar to Lord Street, the Order for Mornington Road will last for 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever comes first. Residents and commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays. For further updates on the road closures and any potential changes, residents can check the council's official website or local news outlets. The council aims to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of all road users during this period. Gas upgrade project with multiple traffic lights will last until past Christmas

Work due to start to upgrade part of the gas network in Penryn will last until past Christmas. The works in the Kernick Road area of the town start on July 28. Wales and West say the work is essential to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations. Barring any engineering difficulties, the project will finish by the end of December. As part of the works, the gas emergency and pipeline service has liaised with Cornwall Council, and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place throughout. This will include multi-way traffic lights in the area, and motorists are advised to allow appropriate travel time. "Whether it's heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it. 'We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future. We'll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.' UK's busiest motorway hit by string of closures for 48 HOURS this weekend sparking 30-min delays for 1,000s of drivers

THE UK'S busiest motorway will be hit by a string of closures this weekend sparking delays for thousands of drivers. Multiple diversions have been put in place by National Highways as drivers are warned to plan ahead. 1 Drivers will not be able to enter or exit the M25 at Junction 10 from tonight until Monday morning. All entry and exit roads on the Wisley Interchange, Surrey, will see a full weekend closure. National Highways have said: "The Wisley Interchange junction 10, including all entry and exit slip roads, will be closed in its entirety from 9pm on Friday 16 May to 6am Monday 19 May 2025. "While the A3 and M25 will both remain open, the slip roads off and on the junction won't be, meaning you won't be able to leave or join the M25 or the A3 AT junction 10." As a result, traffic is expected on the M25 and surrounding areas with a number of diversion routes put in place. These diversion routes are thought to be between nine and 12 miles long. With light traffic, it is estimated each route should add between 20 and 30 minutes to drivers' journeys. National Highways is enforcing the closure of Junction 10 slip roads for essential works. This includes putting the finishing touches on the road surface for motorists. The final resurfacing works on the gyratory is expected to be the last planned full weekend closure at the interchange. Drivers have been warned to plan ahead and think about alternative routes they can take. Alternative routes may include the M3, M23 or A24 to get onto the M25 from the south. Alternatively, drivers can use the A316 and M3, A23 and A24 to get on the M25 from London or the north of Surrey. A total of six diversions have been set out by National Highways to manage traffic. Some of these will cut through the Byfleets, Old Woking, West Clandon and Leatherhead. The M25 junction 10 and A3 Wisley Interchange is the busiest section of the M25, with over 300,000 vehicles travelling through it every day. The ongoing works at junction 10 are due for completion in spring 2026. This is to reduce congestion, create a smoother flow of traffic and provide safer journeys for thousands of drivers. This has included several bridge demolitions and the building of new ones crossing the A3 and M25, connecting the four quadrants surrounding junction 10 for the first time. Environmental improvements are also being made to the area including the restoration of heathland and planting of new trees and woodland.
