Alejandro Garnacho hammered over behaviour as Matheus Cunha instantly questioned
Alejandro Garnacho has been slammed by an ex-Man Utd star over his attitude, with questions also raised over whether Matheus Cunha is the right man to turn their fortunes around A former Manchester United star has slammed Alejandro Garnacho 's behaviour and warned that Matheus Cunha may be another "mercenary" signing. Garnacho is understood to have been told by Ruben Amorim that he does not feature in his plans for next season. The 20-year-old winger was left out of the squad for United's 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season. It came after he publicly expressed his frustration at being benched for the club's Europa League final defeat by Tottenham. Garnacho has now been slammed by former United and Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster, who accused him of being self-centred. Foster made his comments after negatively comparing the Argentina international's actions after the final to those of Spurs goalscorer Brennan Johnson. Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, he said: "I watched the Europa League final and you've got Brennan Johnson doing his interview after the game. He just looks like a lovely, hardworking, honest kid. You can tell with the way he's speaking that he's a team player. He might not have the ability of Garnacho…but he'll outwork him, I guarantee you. "The full-time whistle goes and he sits down on the floor. He doesn't try to interact with any of his teammates or try to console them. It's all about him, him, him, him. Brennan Johnson is a team player. Give me him ten times out of ten. Garnacho? No chance." United have a crucial transfer window ahead of them after their disastrous season came to an end. Amorim addressed supporters after the Villa game to apologise and promised that "the good days are coming". The Red Devils have already started to make moves ahead of next season, with Matheus Cunha widely expected be the first name through the door as part of their rebuild. The Wolves forward is reportedly set to be handed a long-term contract until 2030 with the option of an additional 12 months. It follows United showing their willingness to trigger the Brazilian's £62.5m release clause. However, while the club is hoping Cunha's arrival will bring some much-needed firepower, Foster believes the signing could turn out to be a bad decision after questioning the player's attitude. He said: "It's more of the same. They need to get back to basics. I'd rather, as a United fan, have good, honest, hardworking lads that might not have the ability of Cunha or Garnacho, but I know they're going to do it professionally and they're going to be there to stand up and be counted when needed. "I think United failing to get Champions League football and the money that brings just opens them up to this mercenary level of player signing. You're going to get problems down the line." Cunha has sent a message to Wolves fans following the end of the season - which appears to signal his departure. "Wolves, what can I say to you?" he said. "What an incredible season. We didn't get to where you deserve to be, but we did everything we could to make you proud. I love these guys. "Individually, it was the best season of my life. All of this was only possible because of all the dedication and love I have for this club. I became the Brazilian with the most goals in a Premier League season, along with @roberto_firmino and @ "I made mistakes and got things right, but always because I lived this club so much. All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves. Another one is over. And thank you all for all the affection."
