'An Inse Bas Ads Kara Lo': Babar Rizwan, Rizwan Torn Down By Ex-PAK Batter

Last Updated: Former Pakistan international Basit Ali has slammed Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for poor performances, saying they're only good for advertisements. Former Pakistan international Basit Ali has slammed Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for their lack of contributions to the team in recent months. Ali labeled the star duo as only good for advertisements, saying they need a 'wake-up call' from a strong personality because they are not listening to the coaches either. Babar and Rizwan, former and current captains and faces of the ODI team for years, are under pressure after Pakistan's 2-1 series defeat to the West Indies, more so after the final ODI saw the visitors get out for just 92 runs in the chase of 295 runs. While Rizwan scored 53, 16 and 0 in the three matches of the series, Babar, put up 47, 0 and 9. The performances were an extension of their struggles across formats. The Game Plan. 'They don't listen to the coaches. Whatever the batting coaches say, they just keep pretending to listen to them. They need someone who can give them a wake-up call, like Inzamam, Yousuf or a Younis Khan. And they know there's no one who would do that, because they didn't let anyone do it before," he added. Babar, once considered a to-be ODI great, has not looked himself for over a year. His last ODI century came in 2023. His cousin and another ex-Pakistani cricketer, Kamran Akmal, said that Babar needs to keep his 'ego' aside if he has to help the Men in Green win matches. 'I can guarantee that I haven't seen ego in him. He respects his family and meets everyone respectfully. But what I want from him is, when he enters the field, he doesn't act bigger than the game. Prioritise Pakistan. The investments he made in some players during his tenure as Pakistan captain didn't favour the country, too," Akmal said. The star duo is running out of time rapidly since Pakistan's humiliating exit from the 2025 Champions Trophy. The team will next be in action in a T20I tri-series featuring Afghanistan and the UAE in Sharjah, starting August 29. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Operation Mahadev exposes ISI backed Lashkar-e-Taiba plot behind Pahalgam massacre

The role of the Pakistan Army in the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives became clearer when the Indian security forces gunned down Sulaiman, considered to be the mastermind. Suleman, who is part of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, which carried out the April 22 attack, also goes by the name Hashim Moosa. He was an ex-Pakistani army official who was killed during Operation Mahadev, carried out by the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police. During the operation, two other terrorists, Abu Hamza and Yasir, too, were eliminated by the security forces. "Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation Continues," the official X handle of the Indian Army's Chinar Corps said. The killing of Sulaiman further cements the fact that the ISI had played a major role in the Pahalgam attack. Suleman was a highly trained terrorist and an asset of the ISI. He was roped in to oversee the attack due to his expertise and the time he had spent in the Pakistan Army. The probe into the Pahalgam attack showed that it was the ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba that carried out this attack. It was a guarded conspiracy, and the planners decided to hire only Pakistani terrorists as they wanted it to be a top secret. While at first the role of some locals did come up, the probe found that while some had offered shelter and food, they had no clue about the attack. In the run-up to the planning, the ISI had roped in Sajid Jutt to deploy only Pakistani fighters to carry out the attack. Only a handful of people were involved in this attack. Jutt was told to identify Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists who were fighting in the Valley to carry out the attack, and at any cost, not involve any locals, as they did not want the details to come out. The attack squad was led by Sulaiman, who was part of the Pakistan army's special forces commando squad. He has been in the Valley since 2022 after having trained at the Muridke camp of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. It may be recalled that in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, India had carried out Operation Sindoor during which Muridke, the primary training facility of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, had been hit. Investigations showed that Sulaiman was at the Tral forest on April 15. This means that he was close to the attack site at Baisaran nearly seven days before the strike. Sulaiman, according to the investigating agencies, was also involved in the April 2023 attack on an army truck in Poonch in which five soldiers were killed. The role of the locals had cropped up after the arrest of Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Hill Park, Pahalgam. However, the probe learnt that they had a limited role. They only provided shelter, food, and some logistics for a few thousand rupees. During their questioning, they said that they had no clue about the attack and where it was taking place. They also said that they were not told about the plan by the terrorists. This suggests that the ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba wanted to maintain utmost secrecy and planned the entire strike on a need-to-know basis. The Pahalgam attack was clearly aimed at creating a huge communal divide and also to stop the thriving tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

Adnan, who previously held Pakistani and Canadian citizenship, became an Indian citizen in 2016. Fawad asked. Adnan hit back, writing, 'Who's going to tell this illiterate idiot!!' He was born to a Pakistani father and a mother from Jammu. He has been living in India since 2001. He previously held Pakistani and Canadian citizenship, but he applied for Indian citizenship in 2015 and officially became an Indian citizen in 2016. Since then, he has been an Indian national. The terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 left 26 people dead. Following the attack, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty, downsized High Commissions, and suspended visa services for Pakistani nationals.

Umar Gul joins Bangladesh cricket team as bowling coach for Pakistan tour

Former Pakistan pacer Umar Gul will serve as Bangladesh's new bowling coach during their upcoming T20I tour of Pakistan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed. Umar Gul, 42, will begin his tenure with Bangladesh during their five-match T20I series in May, as part of a short-term deal aimed at strengthening the team's fast-bowling department. The BCB has initially offered a three-month contract, with a possible extension through to the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup depending on mutual satisfaction following the series. Gul confirmed the development, stating that while the final terms are still under discussion, he is looking forward to the challenge. 'It's an exciting offer, and I look forward to it,' Gul said. The former fast bowler was a central figure in Pakistan's 2009 T20 World Cup triumph, most notably taking 5 wickets for 6 runs in the semifinal against New Zealand. Over his international career, Gul picked up 163 wickets in Tests, 179 in ODIs, and 85 in T20Is. Post-retirement, Gul transitioned into coaching, serving in roles with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Recently, Gul was also seen training with Karachi Kings' player Abbas Afridi. Bangladesh's current pool of pacers includes Naheed Rana, who consistently bowls above 150 KPH, alongside Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Shakib, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Khalid Hasan. Gul's experience is expected to play a key role in their development ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026. He's the latest ex-Pakistani player to jump ship to coach other teams, after Younis Khan's 'mentor' role for Afghanistan's cricket team. The Bangladesh tour to Pakistan was originally set to include three ODIs and three T20Is under the Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, both boards later agreed to convert the series into five T20Is to better align with upcoming white-ball competitions. The five-match series will be held in May, though exact dates and venues are yet to be announced.

WATCH: Umar Akmal criticises Waqar Younis' head coach tenure, alleges misconduct

Listen to article Former Pakistan batter Umar Akmal has strongly criticised ex-head coach Waqar Younis, alleging that he was mistreated and mentally pressured during Younis' tenure. Akmal claimed that the former fast bowler deliberately undermined his confidence and created an environment that was not conducive to his growth as an international cricketer. Speaking in a recent interview, Akmal recalled how his attacking batting approach in Test cricket was discouraged. 'When I played attacking shots, I was told, 'Have you started playing T20 cricket in Tests?' And when I rotated the strike, they said, 'Are you playing an ODI in Test cricket?'' Akmal said. 'Now, look at today's Test cricket—it doesn't even last three or four days.' Akmal further alleged that Younis had a personal issue with him and his brothers, Kamran and Adnan Akmal. He claimed that Waqar Younis openly questioned why all three were playing for Pakistan. 'I heard it with my own ears. Waqar Younis said, 'Sari cricket tussi bharavan ne leni hai?' (Will all the cricket be played by these brothers?) What kind of statement is that from a head coach?' Akmal remarked. The wicketkeeper-batter also criticised Younis for focusing on non-cricketing matters rather than performance. 'He would ask me, 'Why are you wearing these glasses? Why these shoes?' Instead of focusing on my cricket, he was more interested in such things,' Akmal added. Reflecting on his struggles, Akmal said the constant criticism affected him mentally, but he was supported by senior players. 'The senior players sat me down and told me to ignore these things and play my natural game. They encouraged me to focus on my strengths rather than listening to negativity.' Akmal's comments are the most recent in a long list of criticism aimed towards ex-Pakistani players, especially from the 1990s. In a recent television broadcast, Mohammed Hafeez was also seen criticising former players from the 90s era. Waqar Younis has not yet responded to the allegations.
