'It never occurred to me they weren't testing for PSA (prostate-specific antigen). 'I never went to my GP because I was getting tests privately. 'That's how I fell through the gaps and that's how I had a massive wake-up call.' The ex-Sky News host revealed in June he had stage four prostate cancer, and was 'responding positively' to treatment. He told the event: 'You can get to the stage I have with no symptoms. 'Get the (PSA) test. 'You can insist if you're in a high-risk group and under 50. 'If not, still get tested at 50.' How to check your prostate cancer risk Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer Prostate cancer can be deadly, partly because it often has no noticeable symptoms in the early stages, making it difficult to detect until it has spread. Symptoms usually only appear once the cancer has grown large enough to put pressure on the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the penis (urethra). The NHS says there are seven symptoms of the disease - many of which could be overlooked: Needing to pee more frequently, often during the night Needing to rush to the toilet Difficulty in starting to pee (hesitancy) Straining or taking a long time while peeing Weak flow Feeling that your bladder has not emptied fully Blood in urine or blood in semen It's important to note these symptoms don't always mean you have prostate cancer. Many men's prostates get larger as they get older because of a non-cancerous condition called benign prostate enlargement. But with prostate cancer being one of the most common cancers in the UK, if you experience these symptoms you should see your GP. In recent months, several celebrities have publicly revealed their diagnoses of prostate cancer, including six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy. When Sir Chris Hoy was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer, he had no symptoms. The sportsman revealed his terminal diagnosis in an interview with The Times last year. He's now advocating for increased awareness and early detection of prostate cancer. 5 The late Queen seen visiting Dermot at the studio Credit: Getty

Eamonn Holmes and younger girlfriend Katie go social media official with adorable new photos The post comes just one year after the presenter confirmed the end of his 14-year marriage to Ruth Langsford The two posed for a few photos in the sunshine(Image: Instagram) (Image: Instagram ) Eamonn Holmes and his girlfriend Katie Alexander have made their relationship official on social media by posting adorable new photos together. The two cemented their status as a couple on Instagram on Wednesday. Despite the age gap between the pair - Eamonn is 65 and Katie, a marriage guidance counsellor, is 43 - they have been getting on extremely well since the middle of last year, with rumours circulating that they are an item. However, fans and followers were given a sneak peek into the couple's romantic life when Katie uploaded a video reel on Instagram documenting a recent dog walk with her dog, Dottie, alongside the GB News presenter. With The Levellers' song What a Beautiful Day playing over it, blonde-haired Katie captioned a string of photos: "Lovely weather…. Lovely company," along with the sun emoji. Katie rested her chin affectionately on Eamonn's shoulders in one of the snaps while wearing a blue polka dot dress with a white shirt over it as they posed for the camera. Both donned sunglasses as they soaked in the rays. The two previously kept their relationship low-key (Image: Instagram ) Article continues below Eamonn, who was in a wheelchair, sported a quarter-zip, dark fleece and even pouted for one selfie as they relaxed on the grass. The pair appeared relaxed and happy in the images. The post marks a significant step for the couple, coming a year after Eamonn confirmed the end of his 14-year marriage to Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford, 65. The two, who previously presented This Morning together before the ITV show underwent a major shake-up, share a son, Jack, 23, together. "A divorce is very difficult and it's very painful, but most people don't have to do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion about you and writing things about you and commenting things about you. "But that's the nature of my job. I've always had that and if you can't cope with that, you shouldn't be doing this job. I'm quite fine being on my own, but not forever." The shots of Eamonn and his new beau are understood to have been taken just days before the ex-Sky News anchor fell off his chair live on GB News, prompting concern from viewers. Eamonn was anchoring his usual breakfast show this morning when he suffered the nasty fall. Charlie Rowley, a former Tory special advisor, was speaking on the channel earlier today when the fall happened. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
