THE CHIC LIST: Forget waders and wellies – 7 ways to embrace the ‘fisherman aesthetic' this summer

There's a chic new look in town and I've fallen for it hook, line and sinker. It's called fisherman-core but forget waders and wellies – this aesthetic is all about celebrating easy, breezy coastal living. Yes, I live in a city but that won't stop me from unleashing my inner mariner. I'll be spending part of summer by the coast and I love the seaside, so that's reason enough for me to embrace the look.

‘So easy to wear' cry shoppers over perfect summer dress in Sainsbury's – it's comfy, looks expensive & doesn't crease

IF you're still looking to top up your summer wardrobe before the sunshine returns, Sainsbury's has got you covered. The supermarket's in-house fashion label, Tu Clothing, is renowned for its stylish buys at reasonable prices. And if you like to be comfortable as well as fashionable, you've definitely come to the right place. Shoppers have insisted the new Sainsbury's midi dress is perfect for all shapes and heights, and "makes them smile". The "beautiful" Multi Postcard Printed Strappy Midaxi Dress is priced at £22.50 and comes in sizes six to 24. Describing it online, the Sainsbury's team say: "Designed in a bright postcard print for a distinctive summer look, this sun dress is a chic choice for beach days and sun-soaked getaways. "Cut to midaxi length, it comes in a loose, flowing silhouette - finished with shoulder straps and a v-neckline." Unsurprisingly, the colourful frock has racked up a flurry of five-star reviews and is almost completely sold out online. So if you're looking to get your hands on it, you may need to leg it to your nearest store. One delighted fashionista gushed: "So easy to wear and looks great with a tan to show off. Doesn't crease either! "Got lots of great comments in it.. looks more expensive than it actually is." A second wrote: "Bought for holiday and it really is perfect. "Size is spot on and I don't need to shorten it as I'm five foot one inch that is usually the case. "The quality is excellent. So pleased I've bought loads more on line for my holiday. Quick delivery and easy returns. Well done Tu." A third chimed in: "I fell in love with this dress and it's perfect for my trip to the Caribbean. "The fit is excellent and flows beautifully, lovely fabric, adjustable straps and pockets! The length is great, usually they are too long, but this falls just right on me at 5ft 1." "I love the fabric, it's a good length and has pockets. Perfect for summer", cried another shopper. A fifth revealed: "I popped into Sainsbury's to get my mum's shopping and saw this dress as soon as I walked in. "I just fell in love with it; the vibrant colours, the style - pockets! - and it just made me smile. "I wasn't disappointed when I tried it on when I got home. It is easy to wear, comfortable and just the right length. I am so pleased and can't wait to wear it." Meanwhile, a sixth wrote: "Adjustable straps floaty and a linen type feel to the fabric. On trend." Is supermarket fashion the new high street? DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in: The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family. Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year. So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful? Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative. A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year. Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.

‘Far too casual for a wedding' people say as guest proudly shows off her ‘picnic' dress with flip-flops

A FASHIONISTA has come under fire after showing off her wedding guest outfit trolls insist is ''too casual''. Wedding season has well and truly arrived, which means many people have been taking to social media to share their stylish frocks and gowns. 2 Amongst them is also TikToker Rosie Ridgers who recently attended '' a casual wedding '' and was dressed fit for the occasion. The brunette beauty, who now lives in Barcelona, Spain, was deciding between four different picks - an adorable Gingham maxi dress, a flattering dress in pastel yellow, a gorgeous satin pink skirt teamed with a light yellow waistcoat, as well as as maxi lace number in pink and yellow. However, despite being told by social media critics that the red and white Gingham dress was ''too casual'', it was this option Rosie went with. In the follow-up clip before the romantic ceremony, the style lover modelled the cute sleeveless dress that she had paired with a white pearl necklace, a chic updo, as well as some golden jewellery. Yet it was the choice of footwear that seemed to cause the most uproar in the comments - as Rosie decided to do rock comfy black flip-flops. All chuffed with the final look, she wrote: ''The wedding guest dress that you all called 'too casual'. ''Do you still agree?'' 'Flip flops for wedding is wild' But while Rosie looked stunning - and was comfortable - keyboard warriors weren't sure if the final outfit was fit for a wedding. The clip, posted under the username @ rosieridgers, has since racked up more than 173k views in less than 24 hours, with over 90 people flooding to comments. One person thought: ''it's super cute but 1000% too casual. this is like a brunch or picnic or just summer weekend look.'' Frankie Bridge slammed by fans again for SHEER wedding guest dress that's 'too much' and will 'upstage the bridge' Meanwhile, someone else said that Rosie's decision to sport flip-flops at a wedding was ''wild''. Another agreed, writing: ''Maybe just add a strappy heel (even a low one)... The flip flops are defo too casual (certainly for a day 1).'' A fourth chimed in sharing how they'd make the cute ensemble more ''wedding-appropriate'' in their eyes. ''Sweet kitten heel would have made this wedding appropriate. Flip flops would not be my choice.'' ''cute but casual, makes me think of those gingham dresses used to wear to primary school,'' commented a viewer. Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble. Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom. Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided. Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not. Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered. Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride. 'It was such a casual wedding' After being slammed in the comments, Rosie hit back at the critics, ordering them to ''relax''. ''Guys, this is a bit of a wind up, it was such a casual wedding! And I knew that going into it, they wanted everyone to be extra comfortable & happy during the evening! ''It was such a special way to organise it and I knew some of you would debate it in the comments BUT some of you are taking it too far.

I'm an Outfit Repeater. This Is My Favorite Shirt.

In this edition of The Recommendation, we peek inside an outfit repeater's closet of staples. Plus: some very giftable style upgrades we love. I confess: I am an outfit repeater. With almost two closets' worth of clothes in my apartment, I still find myself wearing the same things again and again. Outfit repeating, to me, is a way of trimming the fat: I really only have to worry about choosing from a few prized favorites. It turns packing for a trip into a seamless affair. It lets you revisit certain outfits and combinations like old friends. Top billing on that list of old friends? My cherished chambray shirt. For outfit repeaters, chambray is like a cheat code. Although it resembles denim, it's more akin to the flat fabric of cotton dress shirts. So it's a nice middle ground that works for countless occasions; I've found that you can wear it over and over without looking like you're wearing the same thing twice. It's the perfect long weekend or vacation shirt — no other item of clothing can look as good with a tweed blazer as it does with a pair of swim trunks. No other item looks as natural when worn both as a layer and under a layer. And no other item has let me put together a whole week of different outfits for different occasions, helping me seamlessly navigate my way from completely dressed down to semi-formal. Year after year, as I watched its rich blue slowly erode into a pale white, this chambray shirt has become one of my oldest and most beloved wardrobe staples. The once-thick fabric has broken in beautifully over the last decade, and now feels delicately soft against my skin, almost like a brushed flannel. I was so attached to it that when the elbows began to look sheer, I bought a replacement. The new shirt's fabric is crisp and bright, like my original one was ten years ago. It has a few updated features, like a more generous fit, that make it even more versatile. And I love its newness, the deep and lively shade of blue that I will enjoy watching vanish over time. As for my old shirt? Don't worry, it still hangs in my closet beside its younger sibling, resting, but ready as always for any occasion.
