Latest Pixel 10 renders, Poco F7 gets big update, Week 32 in review

This week, Poco issued a much-requested firmware update to the F7 with camera and performance improvements. Users should get "more natural skin tones and facial details", with "improved facial contrast and accurate brightness in portraits", crisper images overall with "better detail retention across lighting conditions", "superior HDR control" with balanced highlights in bright areas and reduced overexposures, as well as "greens and landscapes" appearing "more real and accurate". Another week, another Google Pixel 10 series render pack is leaked. At this point, we have a perfect idea of what the 10 and 10 Pro units will look like. The latest renders show the phones in Obsidian Black and Frost - a white-ish with a blue or purple hue. The Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G got its EEC certification. The 14 series became official in China in September and made its global debut in January; no word yet on when to expect the 15 series to make its debut. We saw the color options of the Galaxy S25 FE. It will come in Icy Blue, Navy, Jet Black, and White. Not very inspired. It was developed based on feedback from the community, the brand says. Their official announcement can't come soon enough. The 4G-only version isn't dead. The phone has been leaking quite often lately. Previously, we knew the name of the colors, but hadn't seen them in pictures (not all of them, anyway). The OnePlus 15 will reportedly drop the circular camera island and go with a rectangle-shaped one in the top left. That would put it in line with the 13T and 13s design. The phone won't have Hasselblad co-branding, and will have a lower-resolution "1.5K" panel. It will still be a LIPO panel. The OnePlus 15 will have a 50 MP main camera, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC at the helm, and a 7,000-7,500 mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging. The Galaxy A17 went on sale ahead of its formal launch across several European retailers. It has a few notable updates over its predecessor - an Exynos 1330 SoC, OIS on its 50MP camera, and a sturdier display. Galaxy A17 comes in Black, Blue, and Gray colors. The 4/128GB trim is listed at €230 in France while the 8/256GB version is currently €309 in Spain. And one spec downgrade that you may not like. The latest Galaxy A-series member is listed across several European retailers. As the name implies, you do have to be a business to purchase one - and there's an extra caveat too. Apple may very well unveil its iPhone 17 series on September 9. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will have the same ISOCELL HP2 1/1.3-inch 200MP sensor but with a nicer f/1.4 lens. It's happening precisely when you'd expect it to based on prior rumors. But that module is getting a better lens.

Polestar 3 - long-term review - Report No:3 2025

Contrary to some scaremongering, running an electric car is pretty straightforward. Ten years since my first EV, there is no novelty. This is now the mainstream. But every so often things go awry. If you have a home charger, chances are you'll do about 80 per cent of your charging on it with occasional top ups on a public system. So when your domestic set-up goes on the blink, it's a problem. Mine is from BP Pulse, and it turns out that it missed an OTA firm-ware update because it had zoned out of the home wi-fi. Not that I was made aware that it needed this update, or indeed that problems would arise if it wasn't connected to the wi-fi. Advertisement - Page continues below Into the circle of hell that is a customer helpline I ventured. The BP home charger has a little button underneath that's supposed to re-set it, triggering a series of yellow lights whereupon a wi-fi connection can be re-established and the update process begun. Except that it simply refused to do it, which stumped the patient lady on the other end of the line. A follow-up email informed me that my case was being picked up by a colleague, equally patient, who insisted I do the same thing again, with identical results. Now, at this point I was expecting helpline person two to say, 'OK, we'll send out an engineer, there's clearly a problem'. But the warranty on the charger is only good for three years, we're passed that, and BP Pulse were adamant that they had done all they were required to do. The company exited the home charging business in 2023 – it's only interested in big fleet business now – so the messaging here is clear: 'You're on your own. We don't give a toss.' Or words to that effect. I'm in the process of sourcing a new home charger, from a specialist rather than an offshoot of an oil company not known for its customer care. And so to the public charging network. Gridserve is an impressive set-up with reliable fast chargers and contactless payment. But be warned: it costs 85p per kWh. I went for a top-up at its Thurrock site rather than the whole enchillada. Bear in mind that my home tariff with costs me 6.9p per kWh between midnight and 7am. Advertisement - Page continues below Then there's Evolt, whose site beside Stansted airport offers charging at speeds 'up to 150 kW' and costs 65p per kWh. Alas, three of their 10 outlets were out of order when I rocked up, although if you use the QR code and webpay the company still takes £45 each time as an upfront payment even if no charging occurs. I explained to the – patient – helpline guy on this occasion that this was something of a liberty, and he suggested I get an RFID card. I maintain that until charging your car involves exactly the same process as filling it with fuel, people are going to be a) confused or b) cheesed off at laying out money upfront for something that doesn't then happen. Helpline guy was able to direct me to a functioning charger, but that was ended prematurely when the customer on the other side had a problem and Evolt stopped both our sessions. A sub-optimal experience all-round, although there was a Café Nero nearby and I had an enjoyable iced coffee. Meanwhile, the Polestar 3 is working beautifully. So that's something.

Thank you Sony! 🙏 The A1 II just got HUGE workflow and quality of life updates in the latest firmware

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Sony has released a new firmware update for the A1 II; not a dramatic overhaul, but a series of refined changes and additions that improve the camera's overall handling and functionality. The Sony A1 II is the brand's flagship mirrorless camera, designed for professionals who need speed, resolution and reliability. Built to handle everything from high-speed sports photography to cinematic video production, it occupies a unique place at the top of the Alpha line, capable of 8K video, 30fps bursts and blackout-free EVF performance, all backed by a deep well of pro-level tools. This firmware update doesn't alter that foundation but instead refines it further, making the camera feel more fluid and intelligent in daily use. Among the first things users will notice is that the camera's shooting information now adapts depending on orientation. Whether held vertically or horizontally, the display layout automatically shifts to suit the position. A small ergonomic touch, but one that makes a difference when you're shooting fast and need settings visible at a glance. Elsewhere, Sony has added flexibility to how core modes are accessed. Users can now choose whether to change Shooting Mode, Drive Mode, and Focus Mode via the physical dials or through the menu, depending on personal preference or working conditions. Playback and image management also benefit from updates. Photographers can now view folder names and file names during image review, and for those working with dual card slots, images can now be rated or deleted across both slots at once. For video users, Sony has introduced the ability to tag clips as OK, NG, or KEEP during or after recording. This in-camera flagging helps streamline post-production, enabling editors or assistants to identify usable material before the footage even leaves the card. A more seamless wireless workflow is another key area of focus. The update expands the camera's compatibility with Sony's Transfer & Tagging and Monitor & Control apps, enabling new features like focus map overlays and IRIS operation bars when connected to a smart device. Beyond these core refinements, the update prepares the A1 II for a range of specialized, pro-level applications. Features like Scan and Tag, Photo Cropping, and Volume Photography Commands are now supported under a paid license, scheduled for release after August 2025. These will be of particular interest to event, school or high-volume studio photographers. Similarly, updates to Sony's Camera Authenticity Solution mean that image timestamps now reflect the camera's internal clock instead of server time, offering better traceability for photojournalists or those working in fields where image verification is essential. The firmware is available now via the Sony support website, where you can also find the full list of updates. Installation is straightforward, but as always, users should ensure their battery is fully charged and follow the update steps carefully. you may also like Check out our guides to the best Sony cameras and the best cameras for wildlife photography.

Insta360 now offers lens filters and a larger battery for its 360-degree action cam

It's been less than three months since Insta360 released its X5 360-degree action camera, but the company is already introducing new accessories and a major firmware update. Improvements include a new AdaptiveTone feature delivering 'better color and detail in both bright and dark areas' when filming with both lenses, and a larger battery you can swap in that boosts recording time to just under four hours. AdaptiveTone is the most compelling reason to install the free update. It addresses the challenges of adjusting and balancing exposure on dual lens cameras when both are potentially capturing scenes with different lighting conditions. The new feature records 'more comprehensive lighting information from the environment' for each lens, which the company says is then used in post-processing to adjust the exposure of footage and deliver more 'natural-looking results' based on the perspective, angle, or specific footage you choose to export. The update also makes the X5's PureVideo mode, designed to reduce the noise in footage captured in low-light conditions using AI and 'dynamic range optimization,' available when shooting with just a single lens. To better deal with bright lighting conditions where creators want to use slower shutter speeds to capture motion blur, Insta360 is also introducing three neutral density filters (ND16, ND32, and ND64 all priced at $59.99 each) that can be attached using the X5's user-replaceable lens system. The X5's battery life is getting a boost with Endurance Mode now available while shooting in 8K/30 fps mode to extend recording time to just under two hours. Dropping the camera's resolution to 5.7K/24 fps also increases the camera's runtime from 185 to 208 minutes, but if that's still not enough a new $49.99 2,800mAh Ultra Battery is about 17 percent larger than the X5's standard 2,400mAh power pack. Insta360 has even introduced a handful of upgrades designed for motorcyclists. Immersive Shake Stabilization will smooth out footage while still preserving a bit of natural shake to impart a feeling of speed, and the X5 can now automatically blur and obscure license plates. There's also a new $159.99 remote control accessory that can be strapped to a bike's handlebars or worn like a watch that features an LCD live preview screen, GPS data like speed and direction, and a built-in noise canceling microphone with a wind screen.
