Germany's Deutsche Bahn to offer raft of discount rail tickets for summer
The offers are aimed at different groups of customers, from short-distance travellers to young people and seniors. Deutsche Bahn's Stefanie Berk said: "In the future, we want to score even more points with offers that are precisely tailored to individual customer groups. We focus on the needs of bargain hunters as well as those who appreciate comfort and want to travel flexibly. There's something for everyone." The discounts include: Short-distance travellers: The lowest price for the super savings price for short distances will be reduced from the current 9.99 euros to 6.99 euros from June 15th. Young people: MyBahnCard 50 for under-27s reduced to €49.99 instead of €79.90 euros from June 15th to December 13th, which DB says could make ICE trips as cheap as €9.74. Seniors: A Seniors BahnCard Plus will, for an extra charge, offer passengers free drinks on board, eight day lounge passes and preferential care in DB travel centers. Advertisement Commuters: Between June 15th and 28th, 25% discounts for commuters on personal monthly long-distance tickets. Flexible travellers: Flexpreis bookings made between June 15th and July 31st for travel over 28 days in advance will be cheaper. It will also be possible to cancel Flexpreis tickets up to one day before departure, rather than eight. However, as well as enjoying discounts, travellers will face extensive disruption this summer, with works across the country causing delays and cancellations. Civil servants affected by Asean Summit traffic jams advised to apply for WFH
PUTRAJAYA: Civil servants affected by traffic congestion expected during the Asean Summit this month are advised to apply for work-from-home (WFH) status. The Public Service Department said the WFH policy would allow civil servants to work more flexibly, but still subject to current regulations while maintaining continuity of public services. It said the WFH policy provided through the Human Resources Service Circular (MyPPSM) aims to create a balance between the agency's needs in ensuring the continuity of duties and their needs in terms of well-being and work-life balance. "Eligible civil servants are advised to contact their respective heads of department for appropriate consideration," read a statement issued on Wednesday (May 7). It said that all department heads have been authorised to consider applications to WFH for the workforce who may be affected by traffic congestion expected during the Asean Summit and related programmes scheduled throughout this month. According to PSD, the move is among the Madani government's initiatives in prioritising a resilient and caring governance. However, it said, the implementation of the WFH policy must be guided by the procedures and conditions outlined in MyPPSM. The 2025 Asean Summit is scheduled to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on May 26 and 27. Malaysia as the Asean Chair this year will host the 46th Asean Summit which is expected to bring together about 20,000 participants, including heads of state, delegates and officials from member countries as well as dialogue partners such as China and the Gulf countries. - Bernama
