Solo travel is booming - and these are the hottest destinations right now
Almost nine in 10 (or 87 per cent) Australians are planning to embark on a solo trip in the next 12 months, according to a new report by budget international carrier Scoot. New Zealand, Japan and Singapore are the top three destinations in the Asia-Pacific that solo travellers from Down Under are keen to explore, followed by Thailand, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and - in a tie in the 10th spot - South Korea and India. The trend is showing up domestically, too. Reflections Holidays, which operates 40 holiday parks in coastal and inland NSW, has recorded a 21 per cent year-on-year rise in bookings by solo travellers, with solo women explorers - many in their 40s and 50s - leading the way.
