Council workers stick notice on car 'abandoned' near Gatwick airport saying it must be moved - without realising a dead body is inside
A car which was left 'abandoned' near Gatwick airport had a dead body inside of it. The white BMW was covered in dust and appeared to be abandoned when police were called to reports of a body found in it. Council workers had stuck a notice on the car they believed had been abandoned. The notice, dated May 19, informed the owner of their intention to tow it away. Despite giving the owners seven days, the car was still in place yesterday morning when the body was discovered. Sussex Police confirmed they were called to Whittle Way next to a postal depot at around 1030 to reports of a body found in the white BMW. Forensic investigators were seen examining the car during the day. A spokesman for Sussex Police said: 'Police were called to Whittle Way in Northgate, Crawley, at around 10.30am on Friday, 6 June, to reports of a body found in a vehicle. 'Enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual and establish the full circumstances of the situation.'
