Chicken Little in Halifax gives out ice cream for report card day
Line ups for free ice cream at Chicken Little on report card day. (CTV Atlantic/ Mike Lamb) Chicken Little café and dairy bar is giving out their annual free ice cream to students who bring in their report cards on Monday, the official last day of school. The café and dairy bar is owned by its affiliate restaurant, The Chickenburger. 'We're doing our annual report card day, where we give out free ice cream to all of the school aged kids to celebrate the beginning of summer,' Matthew Street, an employee at Chicken Little said. 'Historically we've done it at Chicken Little on Bedford Highway and now at our new location in Larry Uteck.' Chicken Little has been handing out free ice cream on report card day since they opened in 2009. 'Our owner loves giving ice cream to the kids,' Street said. 'If you notice the ice cream he gives, it's usually a quadruple scoop.' The students' eyes light up when they see the size of the scoop they get, Street continued. 'It just brings a smile to everybody's face,' one student said. Between both locations they give out thousands of ice cream cones, the Chicken Little employee said.
