Rolling Square's Innovative And Useful Gadgets Are Designed In Switzerland By Italians

Anyone who reads my posts regularly will know how I love a gadget. Anything that makes life easier and more fun must be a good thing, right? Recently, I came across Rolling Square, a company based in Chiasso, Switzerland, that designs a range of useful gewgaws for life's everyday problems. The philosophy of functionality, premium quality and high-end design comes from the feedback from Rolling Square's customers. By combining that feedback with the design expertise of the brand's Italian product designers to nail the usefulness, durability and appearance of products that remove the barriers between people and technology. Rolling Square has won numerous honors for its products, including four CES Innovation Awards, a Good Design Award and three Red Dot Design Awards. The company makes a range of portable chargers that challenge the stereotype of large and chunky devices that take up a lot of space in a workbag or carry-on luggage. To counter this, Rolling Square produces a couple of tiny travel power adapters/chargers. Have Pocket Will Charge The Pocket Travel Charger is a tiny little GaN-powered device that can handle AC voltages ranging from 100V to 240V. It's a charger designed for globetrotters and has foldaway prongs for E.U., U.S., U.K., and Australasian power outlets, making it compatible for use in more than 200 countries around the world. There are two versions of the Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger. The first provides 30W of power and has a single USB-C output, making it suitable for charging a tablet or a smartphone. The second version provides 20W from a USB-C port and 20W from a USB-A port, giving the user a bit more flexibility for charging more than one device but still packing enough power for phones and tablets. With the choice of USB-A and USB-C outputs on the second version, users can power up two devices simultaneously and stay connected when traveling. The single-port 30W Rolling Square Travel Charger is available now from and priced at $29.90 / £29.90 / €29,90. Pocket Travel Adapter 30W. Pocket Travel Adapter 20W. Need More Power? Rolling Square also makes a more powerful but equally small GaN charger in the form of the Supertiny model. Billed as the smallest 65W charger ever made, this is the kind of power adapter that can charge and power a laptop or a phone. Available in three different versions with fixed Type A, C, G prongs for use in the U.S., E.U. and U.K., the Supertiny is a high-performance charger that's safe for use in a wide range of devices, including laptops, smartphones, and tablets. Powered by Gallium Nitride technology, the Supertiny can reliably charge a laptop up to 65W but is lightweight and travel-friendly. It has a single USB-C port that supports Power Delivery for faster and efficient power transfer and is compatible with most USB-C devices. Additionally, the Supertiny charger has a custom design featuring a ribbed surfaces that help prevent full-surface contact with fingertips when it's hot and charging at maximum speed for prolonged periods. The ribs make the charger feel cooler to the touch while providing a surface that's easier to grip when pulling the charger out of the power outlet. The Rolling Square Supertiny charger is available now from or Amazon and priced at $49.90 / £49.90 / €49,90. Keeping Tabs On Things Rolling Square also makes a range of tracking devices that are compatible with Apple's FindMy protocol. The AirCard Pro is a credit-card-sized tracker with the ability to have its built-in battery charged wirelessly. Many card trackers are single-use devices that may last for two years and then must be thrown away. Fortunately, some tech companies—including Rolling Square—produce card trackers that have rechargeable batteries and yet are still almost as slim as a credit card. Rolling Square claims its AirCard Pro is the first card-sized Bluetooth tracker with a wireless charging battery. It's also Android and Apple compatible and features an integrated Digital ID feature. The white versions of Rolling Square's AirCard Pro work with Android's Find Hub network, while the black version works with Apple's FindMy network. Using a low-energy Bluetooth signal, the card detects devices within the Android or Apple network and then triangulates its location anywhere in the world. Find It With Sound If you lose your AirCard Pro or other tracking device, you can make it beep using Apple's Find My app. You can also ask Google or Siri to find your keys or wallet and make the device beep. The AirCard Pro includes a 20mm buzzer that can be heard in nearly any condition or in narrow spaces like the pocket of a wallet. As soon as the AirCard Pro or other tracking device is left behind somewhere, the user gets an immediate notification through the Apple FindMy app. This feature is not yet available with the Google Find Hub app. The AirCard Pro's 220mAh rechargeable lithium battery can be charged wirelessly and provides up to 12 months of power, whether it's being used with an iPhone or an Android device. When the battery runs out of power, the user just needs to place the AirCard Pro on a wireless charging mat and wait around 90 minutes for it to be fully charged. Unique Digital ID By scanning the QR code on the AirCard Pro, users can access This is where users can create a unique digital ID with contact info and social media links, as well as a short bio anyone can see simply by scanning the QR code on the card. If you lose your wallet with AirCard Pro in it, a custom message can be set up via and show only the desired contact info, letting those who found your device scan the QR code to easily contact the owner. AirCard Pro is just 2.2mm (0.086in) thin—thinner than two credit cards—and built with two almost-unbreakable epoxy fiberglass resin sheets that encase the electronics inside the CNC-machined, anodized aluminum frame, which has a chamfered profile for a thinner feel. This design provides some level of scratch resistance as well as flexibility and durability over previous versions of Rolling Square's AirCard, while keeping the ultra-thin profile so it can fit almost any wallet card slot. The AirCard Pro is available now from or Amazon and priced at $39.90 / £39.90 / €39,90. Tech Specs: Taking Things Up A Notch Alongside the AirCard Pro, Rolling Square also produces something called the AirNotch Pro, which has many of the features of the AirCard Pro in a different shape and design. The AirNotch Pro provides Android and Apple compatibility with 360° omnidirectional sound. The white versions of AirNotch Pro are for exclusive use on the Android Find Hub network, while the black version only works with Apple's FindMy network. Using Bluetooth LE, it detects devices within the Android or Apple network and then triangulates and locates its position anywhere in the world. The AirNotch Pro is a useful device for those of us who routinely forget where we put our keys. The device can emit a powerful 360° omnidirectional sound made by two buzzers placed on opposite sides of the AirNotch Pro. The sound can be heard from any angle and users can ask Google or Siri to help locate the keys by making the AirNotch Pro beep. Inside the AirNotch Pro are two CR2032 lithium button batteries, which can power the device for up to 20 months of uninterrupted use. When the batteries need replacing, the battery compartment can be opened using the included metal ring to swap them out. Glow In The Dark To my knowledge, the AirNotch Pro is the first keyring tracker I've seen with luminous parts that glow in the dark. Inspired by Swiss luxury watches, Rolling Square has added the feature to make it easier to find keys in the depths of a backpack, purse or under a couch and avoids using the buzzer in quiet places. The AirNotch Pro is engineered to be robust and waterproof thanks to a construction of two ribbed ABS plastic shells bonded to a sturdy CNC-machined anodized aluminum frame. It has custom gaskets for IP68 waterproofing and everything is secured with twelve Torx screws. Using the CNC-anodized aluminum hook, the AirNotch Pro can attach directly to keys without an additional keyring accessory. Built with a sandwich design, the AirNotch Pro aims to offer longer battery life, a louder buzzer, while still being sturdy and compact. The AirNotch Pro is priced at $39.90 / £39.90 / €39.90 and is available now from or Amazon.

Hoto's SnapBloq Power Tools Are Inviting, Even If They're Not the Best

Tools often have a utilitarian design. Their purpose is to get stuff done, so their shape is exclusively focused on getting stuff done. This is where the Hoto SnapBloq toolkit is unique: These tools emphasize style and design to prove that functionality doesn't need to have a rugged, utilitarian, and (typically) unappealing style. Hoto's SnapBloq line is a set of three small power tools meant for tinkerers and hobbyists. The full set consists of a screwdriver, a rotary tool, and a drill, along with three cases for the tools and six magnetic accessory cases to hold bits. The entire kit features sleek, modern shapes that have become widespread in the world of tech today, bereft of fasteners, screws, and seams that reveal their manufactured and assembled nature. The bundle includes three tools (R-A04, D-A03, and S-A01) and has a $300 MSRP, although you can purchase each tool separately for $100. Pretty Tools Photograph: Henri Robbins All three tools have an anodized aluminum outer housing with a plastic back plate. They feel fairly durable, being able to withstand basic drops without any damage, and weigh around 100 grams each. The grip areas have straight knurling to improve grip, and the buttons are a flexible rubberized panel with small switches underneath. There are no seams surrounding the buttons where dust or particles can become embedded, useful for tools that will likely create small, airborne particles. Of the three, the electric screwdriver is the most convenient, practical, and useful. For casual tinkerers, this tool makes quick work of most small screws on and inside electronics. However, it's not meant for much more than that—with just 0.5 newton-meter of torque, this device struggled to loosen even somewhat-tight screws in my tests, and I couldn't get them particularly tight, either. I regularly found myself needing to rotate the screwdriver myself (or defer to a standard screwdriver) for anything that required a bit more force to tighten or loosen. On the other hand, the relatively low power of this screwdriver meant it was difficult to cross-thread, strip, or damage the screws during use, which gave me peace of mind. It's a convenient tool to have, but ultimately, it needs to be supplemented by a standard screwdriver. Photograph: Henri Robbins

Usap Tayo: What are some Aussie home interior features you won't commonly find in the Philippines?

Home layout in Australia is shaped by lifestyle and functionality: Features like internal access from the garage and walk-in pantries reflect a focus on convenience, privacy and spacious living. Climate and culture influence home design in the Philippines: Warm weather, limited space, and practical customs make features like wall-to-wall carpets and dishwashers less popular. Growing influence of Western design: Some elements, such as ensuite bathrooms, are starting to appear in modern Filipino condos and upscale homes. Why Emotional Branding Is Out and Functional Loyalty Is In.

Emotional branding is no longer enough. Today's consumers reward functionality, not just familiarity. Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. 32% of customers say they would walk away from a brand they love after just one bad experience, no matter how long they've been loyal Brand loyalty isn't dead, but it is evolving. At Digital Silk, we've worked with hundreds of growing brands across industries, and the pattern is clear: emotionally driven loyalty is losing ground to functionality-first experiences. Consumers don't just want to feel something — they want things to work. And that's a shift both in sentiment and in economics. A decade ago, brands poured resources into storytelling and emotional resonance. But today's consumers, especially Gen Z and Millennials, are loyal to experiences, not just feelings. As McKinsey notes, more than 75% of consumers have changed buying behavior since the pandemic began, with many switching brands due to availability, value or digital service quality. To stay competitive, brands need to rethink loyalty not as a marketing campaign but as a product feature. Functionality now defines loyalty Amazon is continuously ranked as the most trusted brand in the retail and eCommerce category in the U.S., and that's not because of its logo or brand promise. It's because Amazon delivers, literally and metaphorically. Free returns, one-click ordering and fast shipping are tangible functions that keep customers coming back. And it's not just Amazon. In a Deloitte study, 84% of consumers ranked "program simplicity and ease of use" as one of the most important loyalty attributes. This shifts the narrative. While emotional connection once held sway, today the true battleground for loyalty is built on functional design—loyalty programs and platforms must work seamlessly, not just look or feel good. Convenience is the new brand personality. Related: How to Build a Brand That Stands the Test of Time Loyalty programs are being re-engineered for utility Traditional points-for-purchase loyalty programs are fading. Today's leaders are embedding rewards directly into product functionality. Starbucks is a prime example, not because of stars and freebies alone, but because of how the program powers frictionless ordering, payment and personalization through its mobile app. As of September 2024, the company reported $1.7 billion in deferred revenue tied to stored value cards and loyalty activity, with over $1.6 billion expected to be redeemed within a year, according to its annual report. That is proof that users are consistently engaging with the platform, placing mobile orders, customizing drinks and redeeming offers as part of their daily routine. This level of functionality doesn't just improve convenience. It reinforces habit loops that make the app, not just the coffee, the sticky part of the brand experience. Uber takes a similar approach. Through its free Uber Rewards program and paid Uber One membership, the brand rewards active users with friction-reducing perks like priority pickups, price-protected routes, free deliveries and cashback on rides. These benefits are functional. Uber One members now account for 40% of Uber Eats U.S. bookings, spend four times more per month, and show 15% higher retention than non-members. Loyalty, in this case, is a consequence of daily usefulness. This shift away from symbolic rewards toward integrated utility reinforces the point: the most effective loyalty programs today earn attention; they don't ask for it. Related: Why Gamification is the Secret Weapon for Brand Engagement What this means for your brand Stop thinking about loyalty as a brand halo. Think of it as friction reduction. Ask: How easy is it to reorder or renew? Do your top customers get better service, faster responses or deeper insight? Is your loyalty program integrated into the daily flow of your product? If not, you're leaving equity on the table. Loyalty shouldn't live in a separate system, but in your UX. Almost 90% of customers say the experience a company provides is as important as its products or services. That experience starts with functionality: seamless logins, fast checkout, accurate personalization and responsive support. AI personalization is reinforcing functional loyalty AI is accelerating this shift. Brands are now using real-time behavioral data to offer smarter, faster and more relevant experiences. Netflix's content suggestions, Spotify's Discover Weekly and Amazon's product recommendations all operate on this principle. These platforms don't ask for loyalty. Instead, they earn it through predictive personalization and time-saving interfaces. AI serves customers, but it also trains them to return. Related: How I Used AI to Transform My Business and Create Multiple Revenue Streams The emotional layer still matters — but it's built on function To be clear, emotional affinity still matters, but only after functional trust is built. Apple users may love the brand, but they wouldn't stick around if the devices stopped syncing. Netflix wouldn't survive on content alone without its intuitive interface and hyper-personalized recommendations. Functional loyalty is the gateway to emotional connection, and not the other way around. Related: Fix This First To Make Every Ad Dollar Count Make loyalty invisible The most successful loyalty strategies are the ones customers don't notice. They just work. They're embedded in your product, reinforced by your service and rewarded by your infrastructure. Brands that still chase emotional loyalty without delivering on functional expectations risk becoming irrelevant. The future belongs to businesses that treat loyalty not as a feeling to inspire, but as a function to engineer.
