Moazzam Ali Khan: A voice that resonates beyond borders

M oazzam started his career in the corporate world, and after working extensively in telecommunications, advertising and PR, he was awarded the Presidential Award for being the best public relations professional in the private sector. This gave Moazzam, in his own words, 'a grounding and confidence to pursue other avenues and to pursue my dreams in the world of creativity.' Moazzam's journey into the world of creative artistry began in 2006, when he made his debut by recording his famous Tumhare Bin, followed by a celebrated ghazal by Ghalib. Having met with a very successful debut, Moazzam started doing poetic recitals and has an impressive three hundred or so to his name, featuring nazms, ghazals, and the works of various classical poets from the East. Moazzam has been inspired by legends like Mehdi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, Ustad Ghulam Ali, and many icons from across the world. However, his biggest inspiration has been the recognition he has received from his fans. 'Every time someone connects to a line I deliver or a verse I sing, it reinforces why I chose my path.' Moazzam's talents are not just restricted to recitals and singing. Blessed with an enthralling voice, Moazzam is also skilled in the field of performing arts. It is no surprise that amongst drama enthusiasts, he has made his mark through memorable roles in plays like Sabaat, Ishq-e-Laa and Meri Shahzadi. 'Each character I have portrayed has added something to me as a person and an artist.' Moazzam has spent a significant number of years in the UAE. Dubai has been a pivotal chapter in his life. 'The UAE, and in particular Dubai, offered me exposure to a dynamic mix of cultures, creativity and professional discipline. The city's rhythm, fast-paced yet full of possibilities, helped me evolve both personally and artistically. Being based in Dubai for a substantial number of years has helped me connect with a wide audience. That in itself is truly overwhelming.' Moazzam has a humble persona, but behind it lies recognition from Hollywood to Bollywood, with applause from celebrities such as Goldie Hawn, Chaka Khan and many more. Moazzam's recent renditions, particularly ghazals, have found their way into the hearts of legends in Indian cinema, including Javed Akhtar. In Moazzam's opinion, these moments reaffirm that art travels across borders and hearts. 'My journey from a corporate boardroom to a stage or a studio mic came to me as a surprise, it was my calling. Dr Arfa Zehra, Zia Mohyeddin Sahab and so many more have been my beacon in the journey I was chosen for. Always listen to your intuition and leave the rest to your destiny.' Moazzam is currently collaborating on cross-cultural musical projects and voice-based productions. His work is much awaited by fans around the world. Some of Moazzam's covers that have gone viral include Yeh Nayan Dare Dare, Mujhe Tum Nazar Se and Koi Faryad. 'Across all these, my voice found its way to those who live poetry and the emotion behind every word.' Moazzam expressed his gratefulness to his family for supporting him in pursuing his dreams and helping him achieve his success.
