Pilot dies in second aviation crash on the Darling Downs within two weeks
A man has died in a glider crash in Queensland's Darling Downs region, the second fatal aviation crash for the region in the past two weeks.
Emergency services were called to a field near Wainui Soldiers Road at Bowenville about 6:30pm on Wednesday.
The site is near the Darling Downs Soaring Club.
The 56-year-old pilot, who was the sole occupant, died at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
It is the second fatal aircraft crash on the Darling Downs this month, after pilots Wayne Saunders and Robert Molony were killed in a light plane crash near Oakey on July 20.
