Access to Griffith Park in Los Angeles was limited Tuesday morning as authorities investigated reports of a man with a gun. The report came in at about 4:38 a.m., according to the L.A. Police Department. Officers investigated the suspect in the 4700 block of Western Heritage Way, which is around the parking area for the Autry Museum of the American West, across from the Los Angeles Zoo. As of 7:45 a.m., there were no arrests made, and no suspect description was available. The LAPD was not calling it a barricade situation as of 7:45 a.m. Officers with the LAPD were investigating a man with a gun report in Griffith Park on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. No additional details were made available by police. Images captured by SkyCAL showed at least five marked police vehicles surrounding a black SUV in a parking lot on Tuesday morning. Several officers were standing outside their vehicles. According to the California Highway Patrol, the Zoo Drive off-ramps were closed on the westbound lanes of the 134 Freeway and the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway for an unknown duration of time.

A Perth man's early morning drive escalated quickly when he allegedly brandished a gun at police before speeding away at up to 200km/h. Police allege they tried to stop a Hyundai Tucson wagon driven by the 39-year-old about 7.25am on Monday after it was caught allegedly displaying false plates. The East Perth man failed to stop, instead allegedly brandished a gun and took off from Gibson Rd in Beechboro at speeds of up to 200km/h. He continued through various suburbs before coming to a stop by crashing into bushland at the T-junction of Taylor and Rowley roads in Bunjup. WA Police Air Wing swiftly directed officers to his location. The gun was recovered in Beechboro. The man was charged with nine offences, including reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, unlicensed person possess firearm and drove a vehicle with forged, replica or false plates. He is due to face Midlands Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The City of Thornton will swear in a new police chief Tuesday evening, but prior to that, CBS News Colorado has learned that Jim Baird accidentally fired a new gun at his apartment on May 14, something the City of Thornton had not previously disclosed. "It's definitely not how anyone wants to start," said Kylynn McTague, public information officer for the Thornton Police Department. According to an account of what happened provided to CBS News Colorado, Baird was in his apartment the evening of May 14 when he unintentionally fired a new gun. The bullet went through a kitchen cabinet inside the apartment, and nobody was injured. Jim Baird Thornton Police According to a statement by the City of Thornton, Baird immediately tried to contact neighboring residents to make sure nobody had been hit. He then reported the incident to the interim Thornton police chief, who came to the scene with a sergeant. From the Thornton Police Department. Thornton said, "An investigation was launched to assess the circumstances... the investigation confirmed Mr. Baird's account of the incident." Baird was not an employee of the City of Thornton at the time of the May 14 incident. Baird was not cited or arrested, "as the investigation found no evidence of negligence or criminal conduct." The Thornton Police Department was then tasked with making sure the gun was functioning properly. "Mr. Baird has been transparent and has taken accountability," read the city statement. It went on to state that city leaders remain confident in Baird. Baird previously served as the police chief in Breckenridge and was the chief of police in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Thornton has 258 sworn officers and another 88 civilian employees. Baird's swearing-in is set for Tuesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. Asked why Thornton had not released any information about the discharge incident until contacted by the media, McTague said it was "A choice of leadership."

A 58-year-old man is due to face court today after allegedly pulling out a gun during a road-rage incident in Sydney's west on Sunday afternoon. Police say the man was seen holding a gun out the window of a moving car on Cowpasture Rd in Abbotsbury about 1pm on Sunday. Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command launched an investigation into the incident, which led to a search warrant being executed at a home on Lancaster Ave in Cecil Hills at about 9.30pm that evening. With the assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit, police seized a replica firearm at the home. The man was arrested at the scene and taken to Fairfield Police Station. He has been charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence. A further three people have been arrested after a gun was allegedly pointed at a police officer's incident unfolded when officers approached a group seen riding e-bikes dangerously on Great Clowes Street, Salford, at about 12:00 BST on they went to arrest one member of the group, another aimed a "suspected firearm" in an officer's face before fleeing. A 32-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday night in the Whalley Range area of Manchester on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Two women, aged aged 56 and 33, were arrested on suspicion of assisting him and a gun believed to have been used in the incident was also recovered, Greater Manchester Police said. It comes after two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested shortly after the incident, which saw one police officer using a Taser and calling for Supt Simon Moyles said: "This was a frightening and totally unacceptable incident that occurred in broad daylight."Witnesses or anyone with information has been urged to contact police.
