'It's a gift from my sister, but it's more of a gift TO her because she has an unhealthy obsession with heritage/ancestry at the moment,' the man added.
And while he said he is 'not really interested' in his ancestry, his girlfriend of nine years — who was adopted — would 'love to use it.'
'[My girlfriend and I are] both more interested in my girlfriend's ancestry than mine, but I understand it was a gift to me,' he added.
'I don't want to seem ungrateful,' the original poster (OP) continued, adding that when he asked his sister her thoughts on regifting the test, she suggested that he simply buy another for his partner.
The majority of commenters on his post said that they thought the OP should be able to use his gift however he sees fit.
