UAE temperatures soar to 51.6°C in May, breaking records ahead of peak summer
The UAE hit the highest temperature in the country today, hitting a scorching 51.6°C at 1:45pm, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). The temperature was recorded at Sweihan in Al Ain. This extreme heat marks one of the highest temperatures recorded so far this season, underscoring the onset of intense summer conditions across the UAE.

UAE hits highest May temperature on record at 50.4C
The United Arab Emirates recorded on Friday its highest temperature for May since it began documenting them in 2003 at a sweltering 50.4 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology. "The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 50.4°C in Al Shawamekh (Abu Dhabi) at 14:30 UAE Local time," it said in a post on X. AFP

The United Arab Emirates recorded on Friday its highest temperature for May since it began documenting them in 2003 at a sweltering 50.4 degrees Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology. 'The highest temperature recorded over the country today is 50.4°C in Al Shawamekh (Abu Dhabi) at 14:30 UAE Local time,' it said in a post on X. 'This is the highest temperature we've ever recorded (for May) since we started keeping records in 2003,' the NCM told AFP. That topped the highest temperature of 50.2 Celsius recorded in May 2009, said the center. The UAE is one of the world's top oil exporters, but has also invested heavily in renewable energy.

Saturday, tied for year's warmest day, seemed among its best
By the standard meteorological measures at least, Saturday in the District seemed about as good a day as can be produced or expected: warm, bright, dry and a little breezy, a day that seemed to allow anything and prohibit nothing. In terms of temperature, the 87-degree high was the warmest reached here this year. But as it turned out, it shared the high temperature title with Friday.
