Trump to be hosted by King during ‘unprecedented' state visit

Donald Trump is scheduled for an unprecedented second state visit to the UK from 17 to 19 September. He will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, accompanied by Melania Trump. The invitation for this historic visit was formally extended by King Charles via Sir Keir Starmer during a meeting at the White House. Due to the House of Commons being in recess, Trump will not address Parliament during his visit, unlike French President Emmanuel Macron recently. This marks an unusual second state visit for a US leader, as previous second-term presidents typically had less formal engagements with the monarch.

MBS, Trump hold joint Saudi-US talks at al-Yamamah Palace

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US President Donald Trump held joint talks at al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh after welcoming the US president in an on official ceremony. Trump arrived at al-Yamamah Palace shortly after noon where he was welcomed in an official ceremony. After the welcoming ceremony, MBS and Trump introduced delegations from both sides. Trump met with senior Saudi officials and the Crown Prince met with high-level American officials as well as CEOs that included Tesla CEO Elon Musk and CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman, who were introduced by Trump during talks at the palace. Trump and MBS then kicked official talks. After concluding talks at al-Yamamah, MBS and Trump are expected to join the Saudi-US Investment Forum that kicked off earlier in the day. Trump arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday morning for what he described as a 'historic visit' and the first stop in a four-day sweep through the Gulf region. The US presidential plane was escorted by Saudi F-15 fighter jets as it made its way towards the King Khalid International Airport, where the Saudi crown prince was waiting his arrival on the ceremonial lavender carpet.
