Caught on video: Coral Gables woman says fake delivery man tried to break into her home

Woman says fake delivery man caught on video tried to break into her Coral Gables home Woman says fake delivery man caught on video tried to break into her Coral Gables home Woman says fake delivery man caught on video tried to break into her Coral Gables home A Coral Gables woman is warning others after a man posing as a pizza delivery driver allegedly trespassed on her property and tried to break into her home. The woman, who identified herself only as Melissa, shared surveillance video with CBS News Miami and is hoping someone will recognize the man. "He seemed to be making up a story on the spot," Melissa said. "He said something about being a pizza delivery man from DoorDash." Melissa said the man first appeared at her home just before 9 p.m. last Thursday. "I was home Thursday night and I heard sounds outside my home, so I activated my doorbell cameras and I asked the individual if I could help him with anything," she said. The man is heard on the video saying, "Yes, I have a pizza delivery for DoorDash." But Melissa said, "He didn't have anything in his hands to deliver, which I felt was odd. I told him he had the wrong place and I said I didn't order anything, and he said thank you and he walked away." Returned eight minutes later, walked into backyard Melissa said the man returned about eight minutes later and became more suspicious. "I noticed a hand reaching towards the glass and he walked up and he tried to peep in through the front door," she said. A dispatcher told her to lock her doors. Melissa said she then saw the man go past a "no trespassing" sign into her backyard. "At this point he is going into my backyard and past the no trespassing sign on my property and I am telling this to the operator. He was trespassing. At no point would a delivery man go into your backyard, especially after I told him I did not place any orders," she said. "I have not slept in my house since" "As I was speaking to the operator I could hear him jiggling my back door," Melissa said. "I have not slept in my house since Thursday night so I am hoping that someone out there can identify him. He has two tattoos on his arms and I could make out the letters, the cross letters of S and H and L and Y." Melissa also said, "I am not sure of this but I also think he may have tampered with my mail." She has since filed a police report. Coral Gables police told CBS News Miami they are investigating the case. Officers described the man as having a bald or shaved head, light-skinned, possibly Hispanic, and wearing a white shirt. Melissa said he was wearing an Adidas shirt. CBS News Miami has reached out to DoorDash for comment but has not yet received a response. It is not known if the man has targeted any other homes.

Terrifying moment bare-chested man breaks into traumatized woman's home and threatens her with a knife and scissors

A bare-chested man was arrested after climbing through a woman's kitchen window and threatening her with a knife, a skillet, and scissors. Dr Raisah Sawati, 37, claimed she heard 'clattering' and the sound of 'dishes falling' before she found herself face to face with the unknown intruder, who had made his way into the home in Manchester, England, at around 11pm on Friday. After around 15 minutes, armed officers arrived at the property and arrested the alleged attacker, handcuffing him on the landing at the top of her stairs as she filmed in shock through a gap in her bedroom door. Recalling the ordeal, the doctor said: 'I was up in the bedroom and could hear someone outside on the street shouting down the phone loudly. 'I put my head round the window and saw him walking topless down the street. He pointed at me but I ignored it and thought he must've thought I was someone else. 'The next thing I knew, I heard all this noise. It was clattering and the sound of dishes falling. He was standing in my kitchen with this kitchen knife, then he picked up a pan. He was this big 6ft man.' After trying to close the kitchen door, Dr Sawati claimed he was then able to yank it open, and followed her to the living room after picking up the scissors. 'I was trying to get him to put the weapons down,' she said. 'But his grip was really strong. He was talking all sorts of gibberish nonsense, his eyes look totally wired like I've never seen before. 'I went back into the hall and tried to guide him out by opening the front door, but he wasn't leaving. I then went upstairs to try and alert someone and he followed me up. He was standing there with the pair of scissors. 'I knew I needed to call the police but I really didn't know what to do. I shut myself in [the bedroom] but he was banging on the door trying to get it open. 'I managed to call the police. It felt like ages that I was trapped upstairs in the bedroom.' Within around six minutes, Dr Sawati claimed a convoy of armed police arrived at her property and arrested the suspect on suspicion of aggravated burglary. She caught the incident on her mobile phone, with indoor security cameras also filming the ordeal. Police officers can be heard shouting at the man 'stop resisting now' and demanding he 'come downstairs right now', while the 37-year-old screamed in terror. She told officers: 'I don't know who he is. He came in through the window, he was like, "If you don't let me in I'm going to come in through the kitchen window". 'He came in through the window and he pulled a knife and wouldn't put it down. Then he chased me up here and I kept saying to him put it [the knife] down but he wouldn't.' Following the incident, police forensic teams took evidence from the property including the kitchen knife, scissors and frying pan that he brandished during the invasion. Frantic mobile phone footage showed the moment police questioned her about what happened as she can be heard saying: 'He was coming after me.' 'The last thing you expect is to not feel safe in your own home. When you think you're having a quiet night in and then someone jumps in. 'They asked me if I recognized him, but I told them I didn't have a clue who he was and that I couldn't get him to leave and put the weapons down,' she claimed. 'When he had the knife, all I was thinking was that I was going to be stabbed or raped and nothing could've stopped him.'

First Trailer for Mark Ruffalo's Gritty New HBO Crime Series TASK — GeekTyrant

HBO is bringing the heat this fall with Task , a new seven-episode crime drama from Brad Ingelsby, the creator of Mare of Easttown . The series stars Mark Ruffalo and Ozark 's Tom Pelphrey and is set to premiere this September on HBO and stream weekly on Max. The first trailer has been released and opens with a chilling voiceover: 'There's been a spate of home invasions. At least nine houses have been hit.' The story is set in the working-class neighborhoods of suburban Philadelphia, and follows Ruffalo as an FBI agent assigned to head up a special task force targeting a series of increasingly violent robberies. The twist is that one of the criminals is a seemingly normal family man, played by Pelphrey, who's pulled into a spiral of desperation and crime. The supporting cast includes Emilia Jones ( CODA ), Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu ( The Underground Railroad ), Fabien Frankel ( House of the Dragon ), Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, and Martha Plimpton. Behind the camera, Ingelsby serves as creator, writer, and showrunner, joined by executive producers and directors Jeremiah Zagar ( We the Animals ) and Salli Richardson-Whitfield ( Winning Time ). Ruffalo also pulls double duty as EP, with production support from wiip and Public Record. Task looks to be another slow-burn, emotionally resonant crime story with a focus on the blurry lines between law and criminality. Check out the trailer!

Alleged driver of stolen vehicle that crashed into TTC bus facing new charges in ‘violent home invasion spree'

Anestan Ganeshamoorthy, the suspect in a TTC bus crash that injured nine people, is facing new charges in connection with series of break-ins in Peel Region. (Peel Regional Police) The alleged driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed into a TTC bus last year, injuring nine people – including two critically – is facing new charges in connection with a 'violent home invasion spree,' police say. In a news release issued Tuesday, Peel Regional Police (PRP) said there was a series of break-ins in Mississauga and Brampton in the early morning hours of Nov. 13, 2024. The first occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. at a residence in the area of Dundas Street West and Mississauga Road in Mississauga. At that time, police said five masked suspects forced their way into the home, stole the victim's keys, and fled in their vehicle. An hour later, in the area of Countryside and Goreway drives in Brampton, the suspects allegedly broke into another home while the victims were sleeping and stole several items before fleeing. At 6 a.m., the suspects travelled to the area of Major William Sharpe Drive and Flowertown Avenue in Brampton and forced entry into a third home and confronted the victims while armed with a handgun, police said. In that incident, the suspects demanded the victim's car keys and fled in the vehicle, PRP said. Anestan Ganeshamoorthy, a 32 year-old man from Pickering, was identified by Peel police as a suspect and arrested on April 17. Police say Ganeshamoorthy is also the driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed into a TTC bus on November 18. Nine people were injured in that collision. It was just before 2 a.m. that morning when a black SUV and a white BMW, both travelling at a high rate of speed on Wilson Avenue, reached the intersection at Bathurst Street. Police said at the time that the black SUV cleared the intersection, but the BMW did not, as it struck the drivers' side of a TTC bus. The bus spun upon impact and the BMW burst into flames. TTC bus crash A total of nine people were injured after a stolen BMW crashed into a TTC bus in North York early morning on Nov. 18. Two of the stolen BMW's occupants were pulled from the vehicle and two others needed to be extricated by Toronto firefighters. Two occupants were rushed to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. The driver and four passengers on the TTC bus suffered only minor injuries, including a woman who was ejected from the vehicle. Ganeshamoorthy was already in police custody when the new charges, including robbery, two counts of break-and-enter, and three counts each of wear disguise with intent and fail to comply with a release order were by laid in connection with the alleged crime spree. 'He was also subject to a judicial release order related to similar criminal offences. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, where he was remanded into custody pending a future bail hearing,' PRP said. Police have not identified the remaining four suspects linked to the alleged break-ins but said investigators 'anticipate' more charges to be laid. With files from CP24's Codi WIlson
