Terrifying moment bare-chested man breaks into traumatized woman's home and threatens her with a knife and scissors

Daily Mail20-05-2025

A bare-chested man was arrested after climbing through a woman's kitchen window and threatening her with a knife, a skillet, and scissors.
Dr Raisah Sawati, 37, claimed she heard 'clattering' and the sound of 'dishes falling' before she found herself face to face with the unknown intruder, who had made his way into the home in Manchester, England, at around 11pm on Friday.
After around 15 minutes, armed officers arrived at the property and arrested the alleged attacker, handcuffing him on the landing at the top of her stairs as she filmed in shock through a gap in her bedroom door.
Recalling the ordeal, the doctor said: 'I was up in the bedroom and could hear someone outside on the street shouting down the phone loudly.
'I put my head round the window and saw him walking topless down the street. He pointed at me but I ignored it and thought he must've thought I was someone else.
'The next thing I knew, I heard all this noise. It was clattering and the sound of dishes falling. He was standing in my kitchen with this kitchen knife, then he picked up a pan. He was this big 6ft man.'
After trying to close the kitchen door, Dr Sawati claimed he was then able to yank it open, and followed her to the living room after picking up the scissors.
'I was trying to get him to put the weapons down,' she said. 'But his grip was really strong. He was talking all sorts of gibberish nonsense, his eyes look totally wired like I've never seen before.
'I went back into the hall and tried to guide him out by opening the front door, but he wasn't leaving. I then went upstairs to try and alert someone and he followed me up. He was standing there with the pair of scissors.
'I knew I needed to call the police but I really didn't know what to do. I shut myself in [the bedroom] but he was banging on the door trying to get it open.
'I managed to call the police. It felt like ages that I was trapped upstairs in the bedroom.'
Within around six minutes, Dr Sawati claimed a convoy of armed police arrived at her property and arrested the suspect on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
She caught the incident on her mobile phone, with indoor security cameras also filming the ordeal.
Police officers can be heard shouting at the man 'stop resisting now' and demanding he 'come downstairs right now', while the 37-year-old screamed in terror.
She told officers: 'I don't know who he is. He came in through the window, he was like, "If you don't let me in I'm going to come in through the kitchen window".
'He came in through the window and he pulled a knife and wouldn't put it down. Then he chased me up here and I kept saying to him put it [the knife] down but he wouldn't.'
Following the incident, police forensic teams took evidence from the property including the kitchen knife, scissors and frying pan that he brandished during the invasion.
Frantic mobile phone footage showed the moment police questioned her about what happened as she can be heard saying: 'He was coming after me.'
'The last thing you expect is to not feel safe in your own home. When you think you're having a quiet night in and then someone jumps in.
'They asked me if I recognized him, but I told them I didn't have a clue who he was and that I couldn't get him to leave and put the weapons down,' she claimed.
'When he had the knife, all I was thinking was that I was going to be stabbed or raped and nothing could've stopped him.'
