Woman hospitalised after alleged stabbing in Auckland's Māngere Bridge
Police at the scene on Whanui Place. Photo: RNZ/Nicky Park A woman has been hospitalised after an alleged stabbing in the Auckland suburb of Māngere Bridge. Emergency services were called to the scene on Whanui Place just after 8am on Monday morning. A police spokesperson said officers were called to reports of a person being injured and on arrival a woman was found with stab wounds. She was taken to hospital in a serious condition, the spokesperson said. St John confirmed an ambulance and one rapid response vehicle went to Whanui Place. "One patient was assessed at the scene and transported to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition," it said. A reporter at the scene said Whanui Place had been cordoned off on Monday morning and there were ten police cars present on the street. The reporter could see a number of police officers and dogs at the scene. A man had been arrested at the scene, police said and an investigation into what happened was ongoing. Rangers icon Paul Gascoigne hospitalised after collapsing at home
Former Rangers midfielder Paul Gascoigne has been hospitalised after collapsing at his home. The England international spent three seasons at Ibrox, winning two league titles, the Scottish Cup and the League Cup. According to The Sun he was taken to intensive care after being found by a friend at his home in Poole, Dorset. Mr Gascoigne has since been moved to an acute medical unit where his condition is described as stable. Mr Gascoigne broke through at hometown club Newcastle United and was widely viewed as the most naturally gifted English footballer of his generation. He went on to play for Tottenham Hotspur and Italian side Lazio before moving to Rangers in 1995. The midfielder known as 'Gazza' joined for a club record £4.5million and was named both PFA Scotland Players' Player of the Year and SFWA Footballer of the Year in his first season. He left in March 1998 to join Middlesbrough before brief spells at Everton, Burnley, Gansu Tianma and Boston United. Both during and after his playing career, Mr Gascoigne has dealt with addiction issues. He has entered rehabilitation for alcoholism on at least seven occasions, and also been arrested for drink-driving, possession of cocaine and assault.

Boy, 9, shot during hunting trip: police
A child has been hospitalised after allegedly being shot during a hunting trip near Bourke overnight. Police commenced an investigation after a boy, 9, suffered a gunshot wound to his right thigh on Friday night. He was taken to Bourke Hospital about 7.15pm that night. Officers attached to Central North Police District have been told the boy was injured while on a hunting trip with nine others at a property about 40km north of Bourke. 'Police have spoken with the group, which comprises four boys, aged between nine and 15, and five men, aged between 37 and 63. All are from Victoria,' a NSW Police spokesman said. 17 firearms - including air rifles, rifles and a shotgun – have been seized. Inquiries into the incident and the group's firearms licences are ongoing. More to come.

Chaos on M5 as ‘loose dog' sparks 3-car crash with emergency crews scrambled & hour-long tailbacks
A PERSON has been hospitalised following a three-car-crash caused by a loose dog on a major motorway. The crash occurred yesterday (May 11) at around 12.15pm. 1 Emergency services were called to the scene of a three-car crash between junctions 8 (M50) and 7 (Worcester South). Motorists suffered delays around 8am today after Lane 3 of the M5 was closed following the collision. The crash caused around 4 miles of congestion which added an hour to normal journey times. Lanes were reopened around 10am, with expected delays of around half an hour remaining.
