Diddy trial live updates: Court falls silent as 'freak off' images shown - and Diddy leans over lawyer to look
Combs apparently told hotel staff: 'I don't want to lose anything and I can lose it all' While we wait for today's court session to resume, we can bring you some information from an exhibit that has been entered into evidence. This is an email sent by LAPD officer Israel Florez, who previously worked as a security officer at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. He was the first witness to give evidence to the trial, telling the court on Monday how he was on duty on 5 March 2016 - the day of an alleged physical attack on Cassie Ventura by Sean Combs. Footage of the rapper running down a hotel hallway and then appearing to beat Ms Ventura outside a lift - wearing only socks with a towel around his waist - has been played in court. The video was first made public in May 2024. Now, we have details of an email Mr Florez sent about the incident. It includes pictures of what looks like a smashed vase - which was spoken about during his evidence - and details how he received a call at 11.14am to reports of a distress call on the sixth floor of the hotel. Looking at security cameras, he says he could see "a male black wearing only a towel walking back and forth". When he arrived at the floor about a minute later, he says he realised the man was "rapper Sean Combs aka P Diddy". In the email, Mr Florez says Combs began "yelling at Miss CC" - this is what Combs called Ms Ventura, he says - and that he advised them to separate. As he told the court in his testimony on Monday, Mr Florez says in the email that Combs offered him money, which he declined. After checking on Ms Ventura, he says in the email that he and another member of staff went back to Combs's room to let him know damages would be charged to his room. "When Mr Combs came out he was about to start yelling (still in his towel)," the email continues, but the two staff members "stopped him before he did and advised him that we were not there to make it bigger than it already was". Combs saw the other staff member holding his phone and "automatically assumed he was being recorded so he grabbed his hand", the email says. "He was then told no one was recording him that the safety and the privacy of the guest is important to the hotel and if he tried to do something like that he would get kicked out and escorted out of property by LAPD". Mr Combs calmed down and apologised after this, the email says. The rapper apparently told them: "It's just that I don't want to lose anything and I can lose it all."

Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial latest: Male escort gives evidence
Combs 'had devilish stare': Former security guard describes hotel scene The first witness in the case to give evidence is Israel Florez, a Los Angeles police officer. The court hears he has been a police officer for seven years, but in March 2016 worked in security for the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. He was on shift from 6am to 2pm on 5 March 2016, the day Sean Combs was filmed on CCTV at the hotel allegedly attacking his then girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Mr Florez says he received a call about an incident on the sixth floor at about 11am. When he got there, he says he saw Combs in just a towel and socks, and tells the court he recognised the rapper. He says Cassie was in a corner, covering her face, but he did not recognise her. "She was scared," Mr Florez testifies. "She was in the corner, hood on, covered up. I couldn't see her face, she was pretty much in the corner." There was a destroyed flower vase on the floor, he tells the court. Combs was slouched on a chair, he continues, looking with what he describes as a "devilish" stare. Mr Florez says Combs told him they had been arguing and that he noticed Ms Ventura trying to walk away and get her phone, but the rapper told her she could not leave. He tells the court they then went to their room, where a man was on the bed. After standing there for a few minutes, he says Ms Ventura left. "I started to leave and [Combs] called for me," Mr Florez tells the court. "He had a sack of money and he threw it at me and said: 'Don't tell anyone.'" When asked what he thought of this, the witness tells the court he believed it was a bribe, and he told the rapper he did not want it. When he caught up with Cassie, he says her eye was purple. Mr Florez tells the jurors that he offered to call the police, but she told him she just wanted to leave. Florez also tells the court that Combs attempted to take the phones of hotel security guards. "He came to the door, closed the door behind him, he grabbed the phone my colleague was holding because he thought he was being recorded, he eventually gave the phone back," he testifies. "We said we are not recording you and de-escalated the situation," he adds.
