BREAKING NEWS 'Young' Brit fights for life after plunging from Spanish hotel balcony - as friends are quizzed by police
A British holidaymaker is fighting for his life after plunging from a Costa del Sol hotel.
The tourist is said to have been rushed to hospital in a 'critical condition' after the incident at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Banus near Marbella.
He was initially taken to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella before being transferred to another one in Malaga.
The incident happened around 5am on Sunday.
Witnesses say the unnamed tourist fell from a first-floor balcony although it is said to have been the equivalent of a third-floor fall because of the area the hotel is built in.
Another three British friends the injured man was with, who is described as young but whose age has not yet been made public, have been questioned by police as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to local reports they were sleeping at the time and were unaware their pal had plunged to the ground and were informed by cops when they knocked on their door.

MADRID, May 31 (Reuters) - Seven migrant women and children who died when their boat capsized just metres from shore in Spain's Canary Islands were buried on Friday at the La Restringa harbour where they had hoped to find safety. Two five-year-old girls and a 16-year-old were among the dead, emergency services said. The migrant boat capsized as rescuers were escorting it to port at La Restringa on the El Hierro island on Wednesday, the services said. "I heard the screams and didn't hesitate. Like any citizen faced with an emergency or an accident, I got in my car, rushed to where the boat was, and helped however I could," Javier Iglesias, a La Restringa resident, said at the funeral of the seven, which was also attended by surviving migrants. "What really moves you and leaves an impression is when you see the faces, the expressions of those people who didn't reach their dream, just five metres from the shore." The number of migrants reaching the Canary Islands from West Africa hit an all-time high in 2024, but the number of arrivals has fallen this year, Interior Ministry data shows. In the first five months of 2024, 4,808 people died on the perilous Atlantic voyage to the Canaries after leaving Africa, according to migrant rights group Walking Borders.

Live Spanish Grand Prix qualifying: Latest F1 updates as Norris and Piastri battle for pole
Just three points separate Piastri and Norris in the drivers' standings, with Verstappen a further 22 points back from Norris, who closed the gap on his McLaren teammate by winning in Monaco last time out, his first win since the opening race in Australia. Norris has two wins to his name this seaosn whilst Piastri has won four times and Verstappen won the other two races. There were concerns at the end of third practice earlier down at Ferrari as Lewis Hamilton, who was ninth quickest in the session, had issues with his gear shift, a day after he claimed his Ferrari was 'undriveable'. This has been a happy hunting ground for Hamilton, with six wins around this circuit, the joint-most alongside Michael Schumacher. For the home favourites, Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was eighth whilst Carlos Sainz in the Williams was 13th. There were reliability problems for the other Williams of Alex Albon, who finished 19th in final practice having spent the second half of the session in his garage. The McLarens are favourites for pole this afternoon but Verstappen cannot be counted out having won four times around this circuit, including the last three in succession and his maiden victory in F1 in 2016.
