AADK rolls out new holistic drug rehab module

SERDANG: The National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) has introduced a new treatment and rehabilitation module aimed at enhancing recovery outcomes through a holistic, client-centred and evidence-based approach. AADK director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said the module was developed in collaboration with various stakeholders and is anchored on a biopsychosocial-spiritual framework. The biopsychosocial-spiritual approach refers to drug addiction treatment by addressing a person's physical health, mental state, social environment and spiritual well-being all together. "This launch marks a major step forward in ensuring our treatment and rehabilitation methods remain relevant and in tune with current challenges, especially those involving emerging drug types," he said during the agency's Open Day programme at the Serdang Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen) today. Ruslin said the initiative reflected the agency's commitment to improving community well-being through inclusive and humane interventions. The updated module, he said, was part of the agency's broader effort to evolve its strategies in line with shifting drug abuse patterns and emerging threats. Ruslin added the AADK Open Day was aimed at informing clients and the public about the agency's latest services. "Through AADK's Open Day, the public can witness first-hand the rehabilitative approach outlined in the i-Pulih Model. Out approach focuses on psychological support, education and vocational training to help clients reintegrate into society productively, and not punitively," he added.
