Ray Winstone is developing a new TV show based in 1970s London

Ray Winstone is developing his own TV series. The 68-year-old British actor has teamed up with one of the creatives on 'The Departed' to create a new show which is set in London in the 1970s and carries on in the UK capital through the decades focusing on the dark underbelly of the city. In an interview with iFL TV, he spilled: 'I'm working on something with an old mate of mine; we worked together years ago on 'The Departed'. "We've put together a series about London from the '70s, all the way through up to today.' Before Ray starts filming that he is reprising his role as Bobby Glass in Guy Ritchie's Netflix crime drama 'The Gentlemen', which also stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario. Production on the follow-up series has begun and Ray is looking forward to getting stuck into his scenes after enjoying a break from acting. He said: 'I'm looking forward to getting back into the graft. 'Bobby Glass is back. I'm still in the prison, still nicked, but that's the best place for him. 'It's nice because I can come in and out and that way my daughter runs the business. It's a good dynamic. "I've got three scripts. I think we're moving into the legalisation of cannabis and all that stuff. 'To be honest, I haven't seen the rest of the script so I don't know where the journey goes. In a way, it's a good thing. I don't mind that with this, because some of it is all over the place. 'And then Guy edits it and puts it all together and it becomes a story. It kind of worked that way last time.' 'The Gentlemen' TV series is based on Guy's 2019 film of the same name. But Ray has never watched the crime comedy film - which starred Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Michelle Dockery, Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant, among others - because he didn't want his own performance to be influenced by that cast and story. He said: "I'll probably watch that after I finish. 'You want to bring your own mark to it." Joining the cast of 'The Gentlemen' Series 2 is Hugh Bonneville who will be portraying a new crook. The first series of 'The Gentlemen' became one of Netflix's most-watched shows when it was released in 2024 and the new instalment is set to be released on the streaming service in early 2026. The first season saw Theo's character Eddie Horniman become the new Duke of Halstead after his father's death. Unbeknown to him initially, he also inherits an illegal cannabis farm that is located underneath his family's estate and run by the ruthless Susie Glass (Scodelario) with her crime boss father Bobby Glass (Winstone).

Ray Winstone wants to retire to Italy

Ray Winstone wants to move to Italy full-time. The 'Sexy Beast' star, 68, has been spending more time in Sicily in recent years and hopes to make the island his permanent home so he can enjoy a life in the sunshine with his wife Elaine, but he's still going "backwards and forwards" to the UK because he wants to spend time with his kids and his grandchildren as they are growing up. Ray told the Daily Star: "I'm backwards and forwards from here to Sicily. My family is here in England; my kids are here. "But when we get a chance me and Elaine have a little scoot. I'm 68 now, I want to rest in the sun … I'm getting old ain't I." Ray hasn't given up acting work entirely and has several projects coming up because he needs to "pay the rent". He added: "Sometimes you have to do a job to pay the rent. But I've read three really good ones [scripts] lately and if they come off I'll be very happy. You know when you read them, it's not a question of turning them down, it's thank you, I'm not interested. "But then there's other times when you read something you're not quite sure about but you need to pay the rent, so you will go and do that, you have to do that. "It's part and parcel of it; the taxman needs to be paid. B******! But there you go." One of Ray's upcoming projects is a TV series set in London in the 1970s which he's working on with the team behind hit movie 'The Departed'. In an interview with iFL TV, he spilled: 'I'm working on something with an old mate of mine; we worked together years ago on 'The Departed'. Pacquiao was spoon-fed by wife after last fight - at 46, he's back for another

Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has announced a sensational and controversial return to the ring aged 46 almost four years after his last fight. The Filipino, widely considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, will face Mario Barrios for the WBC world welterweight title on July 19 in Las Vegas. Pacquiao is bidding to become boxing's oldest welterweight world champion and will return to the ring for the first time since August 2021, when he was beaten on points by Yordenis Ugas. 'I'm back,' Pacquiao said on social media. 'Let's make history.' Speculation over Pacquiao's return has intensified in recent weeks and the WBC controversially reinstated the boxing great into their rankings at number five despite his inaction. Defending the decision, WBC president Mauricio Suliman said: 'Manny Pacquiao has been licensed by Nevada and passed all medicals and as legendary WBC champion has been approved to fight by our organisation.' Pacquiao established himself as one of the greats of the sports in the 2000s, winning 62 of his 72 fights and becoming a four-time welterweight champion. His upcoming opponent, Mexican-American 30-year-old Barrios, has won 29 of his 32 bouts, with 18 of those victories coming by way of knockout. Barrios last fought on the undercard of Mike Tyson's controversial comeback fight against Jake Paul in November of last year, sharing a draw with Abel Ramos. Fans have expressed concern over Pacquiao's boxing return after he was left with horrific injuries following his last fight in August 2012. Footage emerged of the Filipino struggling to open his eyes in the days after the bout and being spoon-fed by his wife. Pacquiao was well-beaten by Ugas over 12 rounds after the Cuban boxer was drafted in as a late replacement for Errol Spence Jr, who pulled out due to an eye injury. Following that defeat, Pacquiao indicated he would be hanging up his boxing gloves for good but is now set to return at the age of 46. 'In the future, you might not see Manny Pacquiao again to fight in the ring,' Pacquiao said in his post-fight press conference. 'I don't know. But for how many decades, I'm so happy with what I've done in boxing. 'I contributed a record and brought boxing to the top, and especially, brought honour to my country, the Filipino people.' More Trending Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is among those to express concern over Pacquiao's boxing return and does not expect a competitive fight in Vegas. 'He will never beat Barrios in a million years, and I don't even rate Barrios,' Hearn said in an interview with iFL TV. 'If Manny Pacquiao went and had a big win in boxing, then of course I'd put him in with our guys, and he was WBC world champion. 'But he won't, and he shouldn't be fighting. And he certainly shouldn't be fighting for the world title.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Tyson Fury confirms 'incoming' announcement amid retirement U-turn

The British star retired after losing to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time, but has seemingly revealed over the last few weeks he may make a stunning comeback Tyson Fury has teased an imminent announcement after the heavyweight star hinted at a potential return to the ring. The former two-time heavyweight world champion announced his retirement from the sport back in January. It came just weeks after he suffered a defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia. Over the last few weeks, Fury has teased a return to action and has dropped several hints that he may not be done with boxing. Earlier this morning, the 36-year-old revealed that an announcement is set to be made soon. In a video posted on his Instagram story with father John - the Morecambe native said: "Business meeting today, dad. ‌ "En-route. Incoming, incoming." The pair appeared to be all smiles throughout the video. Many fans are hoping Fury and Anthony Joshua will go head-to-head in the ring. While those hopes were dented after Fury retired earlier this year, it seems very much likely that a clash could be closer than ever to happening. However, nothing has yet materialised. ‌ Recently, the Brit's manager Spencer Brown confirmed the former world champion has bought a new pair of boxing boots - further ramping up talk of a potential comeback. "Well, he has bought a new pair of boxing boots, so what does that tell you?" he told iFL TV. "I was with him the other day up in Scotland, we had a great time, he was happy, he had a couple of Guinnesses, and he does look in good nick. But he has bought himself a new pair of boxing boots and some new boxing shorts. You will know soon enough, won't you? He gave you a little bit of an appetiser. We will see [whether he returns], but all good things come when they are ready." Brown's comments came just days after Fury uploaded a short video in the gym alongside trainer SugarHill Steward. The 'Gypsy King', 36, who was sweating slightly after potentially wrapping up a workout, said: "Just in the gym, happened to bump into somebody you might know." He then shifted the camera towards the direction of an energetic and happy SugarHill - who replied: "You know what time it is!" The 'Gypsy King' had the last say before ending the story: "You know what's coming," he said. Last week, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn issued a direct appeal to Fury regarding a potential fight with his star client. "I feel like Tyson Fury's a bit of a tease really, isn't he? I mean, all we see on Instagram is him," he told Sky Sports. "Even today, I've come out of the press conference, went on Instagram, he's there with his wraps on doing 12 rounds of boxing. Why are you doing this to us? What are you doing? Are you just deliberately playing with our minds or are you coming back? "Just let us know either way. Put us out of our misery. Look, AJ's got to have a little keyhole surgery on his elbow. He'll be back post-September. It's there, isn't it? Let's just make it happen. "When we talk about big fights, this fight is the biggest fight, not just in British boxing, in world boxing, by a mile. And I just feel like it's time. This is the moment. We're reliant upon Tyson Fury. We're ready to go, but obviously he's got to be comfortable. He's got to be up for it. He's a competitive so-and-so, and I just know in his mind, he'll want to dance with Anthony Joshua. So, dust those shoes off and let's make it happen."

Anthony Joshua targeted by incredible X rated rant as man he knocked out 10 years ago wants revenge

Dillian Whyte was knocked out by Joshua 10 years ago and has some harsh words for the two-time world champion Dillian Whyte has slammed Anthony Joshua as a d***head and insists he is still targeting a rematch with his rival 10 years after he was nailed to on the canvas by the power-punching heavyweight. Whyte, 37, beat Joshua in the amateur ranks but was stopped inside seven rounds by the 2012 Olympian in a challenge for the British and Commonwealth titles in December 2015. ‌ The duo were set to face off again in August 2023, only for Whyte to be removed from the event on fight week after he tested positive for a banned substance. ‌ Joshua's bid to become a three-time world champion was rocked last September when he was brutally knocked out in seven rounds by IBF title holder Daniel Dubois - who takes on Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown at Wembley Stadium on July 19. And Whyte - who is set to return to the ring on the undercard of the heavyweight dust-up between Fabio Wardley and Justis Huni at Ipswich Town's Portman Road on June 7 - has been less than impressed with Joshua's refusal to give his thoughts on the fight between Dubois and Usyk to the media. Speaking to iFL TV, he said: "Joshua's a d***head. He just chats s***. Everything's not all about him, you know "That's just a d***head. thing to do. When you are fighting, they ask other fighters about your fight and other fighters give their opinions. "He just chats s*** sometimes man. He's such a strange guy. ‌ "There is no need to do some of the stuff he does. What the f*** is wrong with you?" Whyte - who lost out in a WBC world title tilt to Tyson Fury in 2022 - is hopeful that a victory next month against a yet to be determined opponent can get him back in the mix for big fights, including a rematch with Joshua. "The big fights are happening. I am serious about getting back. I am not just here to jump into big fights to get paid and make a bit of noise. ‌ "I want the best chance of winning these fights to get back with Joshua and all of that. "It's short notice but I've been training, so why not, I'll get a 10 rounder in. Inactivity has killed my career unfortunately." "We tried to get a few undefeated guys but they don't want the fight. It's not my card and I am not the main event so we have to be smart and sensible.
