TDA drive to digitalise import & export docs via industrial collaboration programme

THE Technology Depository Agency Bhd (TDA) has upgraded the Malaysian Customs Import Export Document System (MyCIEDS) to an integrated digital system designed to enhance the management of import and export support documents for the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. To be rolled out nationwide, the improvised system is expected to play a key role in the digitalisation of customs services and strengthening the efficiency of Malaysia's trade border management. An agency under the Finance Ministry (MOF), TDA focuses on ensuring the implementation of comprehensive government's Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) in a more systematic, organised and centralised manner. The Import Export Support Document System (SDSIE) which is branded as MyCIEDS is a revamped version of the earlier platform. It was re-developed with the latest technology by Edaran IT Services Sdn Bhd, under the ICP. Built based on the Document Management System (DMS) technology, the system is integrated with the Customs Information System (SMK). The success of this project demonstrates how the ICP mechanisms can be strategically leveraged to support national agendas, according to TDA's CEO Dr Sharoul Jambari. 'ICP not only fulfills procurement obligations but also acts as a catalyst for technology transfer, local expertise development and long-term value creation for the country,' he justified. 'Through this approach, we can ensure a lasting impact on the economy and the local industry ecosystem.' Added Sharoul: 'The system is expected to benefit the Customs Department's operational zones nationwide by positively impacting the smoothness of trade chains and the competitiveness of the national economy.' MyCIEDS is designed to modernise the digital management of import and export support documents, facilitate the monitoring, storage and access for relevant documents by the Customs Department, support the government's agenda through local technology, and enhance customs operations to accelerate goods clearance. TDA is committed to ensuring that every project under the ICP initiative adds real value to the country through the development of local technology capacity and sustainable economic spillover effects. To date, TDA has successfully implemented 142 ICP programmes under government procurement which has indirectly strengthened Malaysia's strategic industrial sectors. This initiative has enhanced Malaysia's global competitiveness, particularly in technology and innovation. The 657 ICP projects implemented under this programme have significantly impacted various economic aspects, including income growth, productivity improvement, value-added creation in products and services, GDP (gross domestic product) growth, and job market strengthening. – May 28, 2025

CRPF dog killed in bee attack during Korgotalu hills anti-Naxal operation

BIJAPUR (Chhattisgarh): Rolo, a two-year-old female sniffer dog of the CRPF, was the only casualty suffered by the security forces during their biggest anti-Naxal operation at the Korgotalu hills as the four-legged soldier was attacked and stung around 200 times by a swarm of bees. Officials told PTI that the canine was tasked with sniffing out explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the mega 21-day operation that concluded on May 11. Rolo was killed in action on April 27, they said. The CRPF DG has awarded a commendation medal to the dog posthumously. The security forces led by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Chhattisgarh Police units have claimed to have killed 31 Maoists, a "deadly blow" to the armed cadres of the Naxalites. A total of 18 troops were injured, including some who underwent leg amputation due to blast injuries, in this operation that the forces said was the "biggest coordinated" operation against the Maoists till date. The Korgotalu hills lie on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border (Bijapur and Mulugu districts of the two states respectively) and are home to wild animals, including bears, insects and bees, apart from water bodies and natural caves. The dense jungle makes them an ideal hideout for the Naxals.

7 soldiers martyred in terror attack by 'Indian proxy'

Seven servicemen were martyred when terrorists belonging to an India-sponsored outlawed Baloch terrorist group detonated a homemade bomb in Kachhi district of Balochistan, the military said on Tuesday. "On 6 May 2025, terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, [the] so-called 'Baloch Liberation Army' targeted a security forces' vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) in the general area Mach, Kachhi District," the military's media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement. "Resultantly, seven brave sons of soil embraced Shahadat." The martyrs have been identified by the ISPR as 42-year-old Subedar Umar Farooq, resident of Karachi; 28-year-old Naik Asif Khan, resident of Karak district; 28-year-old Naik Mashkoor Ali, resident of Orakzai district; 26-yeard-old Sepoy Tariq Nawaz, resident of Lakki Marwat district; 28-yeard-old Sepoy Wajid Ahmed Faiz, resident of Bagh district; 22-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Asim, resident of Karak district; and 28-year-old Sepoy Muhammad Kashif Khan, resident of Kohat district. "Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorist present in the area," the ISPR said, adding that perpetrators of this henious and cowardly act will be brought to justice. "The security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," the military's media wing further stated. "Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve." The ISPR stated that the "nefarious designs of India and its proxies operating on Pakistani soil will be defeated by the valiant security forces, LEAs and the brave nation of Pakistan, InshaAllah." Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. In a statement, the prime minister offered heartfelt prayers for the elevation of the martyred soldiers ranks in the hereafter and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. "The entire nation salutes the martyrs who laid down their lives for the defence of Pakistan," the PM stated, emphasizing that these sacrifices will not go in vain. He reaffirmed that Pakistan's valiant armed forces are always ready to thwart the evil designs of the enemy. "Such cowardly acts cannot shake our resolve in the war against terrorism," he asserted. The prime minister reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to continue the fight until the complete eradication of terrorism from the country. Civil and military officials have repeatedly said that India has been fomenting terrorism in Balochistan as part of its attempts to destablise Pakistan and that the Baloch separatist terrorist groups, especially the BLA, are being bankrolled, armed, and trained by New Delhi. In 2016, an Indian intelligence operative Kalbushan Jadav was arrested in Balochistan in a complex operation who later admitted in a video confession that he had been involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan and elsewhere in Pakistan. Late last month, the Pakistan diplomatic mission to the United Nations said that Islamabad had "credible evidence" proving that the Jaffar Express train attack was "externally sponsored by its regional adversaries". The Jaffar Express was hijacked on March 11 by BLA terrorists in which dozens of passengers were killed. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan was more specific when he told a news briefing that intercepted communications revealed that India was involved in the brazen attack through "handlers and ring leaders" based in Afghanistan. Pakistan has seen a surge in terrorist violence since the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan in August 2021. Pakistani officials believe that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, an outlawed umbrella of terrorist groups responsible for much of the bloodshed in the country, has developed a symbiotic relationship with the BLA and other terrorist groups to sow chaos. This has been corroborated by the fact that Pakistan ranked 10th on the Global Terrorism Index released by the Global Terrorism Database in 2022, but climbed to the second place in the 2025 index, showing the sharp deterioration of security situation in the country. On April 29, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry shared with the media what he called "irrefutable evidence", including intercepted audio recording, of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Pakistan. He said that Indian army officers were operating a terror network, providing IEDs, explosives, and funds to militants. "This irrefutable evidence is just one small part of India's state-sponsored terrorism," he added.

5 Pakistan Army Soldiers Killed In IED Blast In Restive Balochistan Province

Last Updated: Earlier this month, Baloch rebels kidnapped five Pakistan Army soldiers during a raid in the restive Balochistan province. At least five Pakistan Army soldiers were killed in an improvised explosive device blast in the restive Balochistan province on Monday, CNN-News18 has learned. The bomb blast comes shortly after 30 and 40 gunmen blocked a major highway that cuts across Balochistan province last week and intercepted a prison van being transported by a police team and took five police officers hostage. Pakistan has long struggled with a separatist insurgency in Balochistan, where militant groups routinely attack security forces, accusing them of helping the Pakistani state in sidelining the locals of the resource-rich province bordering Iran and Afghanistan. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the most prominent and active outfit in the region. The group has repeatedly targeted infrastructure and energy projects involving foreign investment, particularly those backed by China, like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In one of its most high-profile attacks in March, BLA militants hijacked a passenger train, holding hundreds hostage and killing off-duty personnel during a siege that lasted three days. Seven soldiers martyred in Balochistan IED attack: ISPR

Seven soldiers, including an army subedar, were martyred in a improvised explosive device attack in Balochistan's Kachhi district on Tuesday, with the military accusing India-backed militants of carrying out the 'cowardly' attack, according to a statement from the military's media wing. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) identified the fallen soldiers as 'Subedar Umar Farooq (age 42 years; resident of Karachi), Naik Asif Khan (age 28 years; resident of District Karak), Naik Mashkoor Ali (age 28 years; resident of District Orakzai), Sepoy Tariq Nawaz (age 26 years; resident of District Lakki Marwat), Sepoy Wajid Ahmed Faiz (age 28 years; resident of District Bagh), Sepoy Muhammad Asim (age 22 years; resident of District Karak) and Sepoy Muhammad Kashif Khan (age 28 years; resident of District Kohat).' The military's media wing said that sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorist present in the area, and perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly act will be brought to justice. It added that security forces 'remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.' The ISPR directly implicated India in the attack, asserting: 'Nefarious designs of India and its proxies operating on Pakistani soil will be defeated by the valiant security forces, LEAs and the brave nation of Pakistan, InshaAllah.' The attack comes amid heightened Pakistan-India tensions following the Pahalgam attack, suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty suspension and border skirmishes. Balochistan has seen increased violence in recent months, with Islamabad repeatedly accusing New Delhi of supporting separatist groups.
