Jaipur: Rajasthan received two national awards in the categories of Emerging State in Organ Donation and Transplantation and Excellence in Promotion of Organ Donation, for its outstanding work in organ donation and extensive public awareness efforts.
At a function held at Dr Ambedkar International Center in New Delhi Saturday, Union health minister J P Nadda presented these awards. Awards were received by the medical education team from Rajasthan, including medical education secretary Ambrish Kumar and medical education commissioner Iqbal Khan.
Health minister Gajendra Khimsar said, "Organ donation is the greatest gift of life, a virtuous act of giving someone a new life.
With one person's wish and consent, many lives can be saved, offering new life, new light, and new hope to those in need."
He said that thousands are still waiting for organ transplants. This wait can only end when we all understand the importance of organ donation and come forward. The state govt is continuously striving to make the organ donation process simple, transparent, and safe. He appealed to the residents to raise awareness about organ donation and encourage more people to pledge to donate organs voluntarily.
Kumar said the medical education department is continuously innovating to promote organ donation.
