Truck crash snarls traffic in area of I-94/I-96 interchange

A semi-truck crashed early Wednesday on Interstate 94 in Wayne County, causing traffic delays that lasted into the morning commute. The crash was reported about 2:18 a.m., according to Michigan Department of Transportation's MI Drive map. The ramp from westbound I-94 to eastbound I-96/Exit 213 was closed as a result, and remained closed at 7:15 a.m. CBS News Detroit has a crew on scene, and will provide additional details as they are available.

A semi carrying around 40,000 pounds of food items caught fire on Interstate 70 in Clark County over the weekend. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Saturday, Aug. 16, around 2:30 a.m., troopers with the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) were dispatched to I-70 Eastbound on reports of a semi that had caught fire. TRENDING STORIES: Local district forced to make adjustments to accommodate rising enrollment after failed bond issue All lanes shut down on I-70 WB due to flipped semi Brio abruptly closes area's only location; Neighbors worried for shopping center's future The preliminary investigation revealed that a Freightliner tractor-trailer combination was traveling east on I-70 in the right lane. The Freightliner caught fire and pulled onto the right shoulder. The driver, 51-year-old Ramior Barrios of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, was able to safely exit the semi and was not injured as a result. The tractor and trailer became fully engulfed in flames, according to the OSHP. The semi was hauling approximately 40,000 pounds of food items. News Center 7 previously reported that I-70 was shut down for several hours during the fire and cleanup of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
