On June 13, Beckham was officially named to the list, and according to the post he shared on Instagram on Monday, June 16, it looks like he wasted no time celebrating with one of the most important people in his life: his mum.
Below, Beckham is pictured with his mother, Sandra Beckham, and sister, Joanne Beckham, enjoying a meal together at Tony's Pie and Mash in London.
"Lunch with Mum, haven't seen her since the news," Beckham wrote in his caption. "Mum cried when she arrived, cried during lunch and cried when I was leaving x. Special moment for us all. Love you mum x."
At the end of the caption, he added, "Dad's next," alongside a laughing emoji.
His sister added in a comment, "She hasn't stopped crying happy tears. Such special times. Unbelievably proud of you."
Last week, Beckham was pictured standing next to the king in a group photo at the awards meeting where the news was announced.
"Great to spend time at the @kingsfdn awards meeting inspiring people who are transforming lives through initiatives in environmental education, traditional heritage crafts and sustainable architecture," he wrote at the time. "Congratulations to all the winners."
This is an especially big deal for Beckham, who has always been open about his love for the royal family.
"I always get emotional talking about anything that I do with our royal family, because I've always been a huge royalist," he said when he spoke at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in January, via PEOPLE. "I was brought up in a household that adored and loved everything that came with the royal family."
Beckham isn't the only famous face who will be knighted at the ceremony, which has yet to be scheduled. On Friday, CNN reported that The Who's Roger Daltrey and actor Gary Oldman will also receive the prestigious honor.
