WGAE Members Ratify CBS News Digital Contract
The Writers Guild of America East said that members ratified a three-year contract with CBS News Digital, marking the first such deal on a collective bargaining agreement. The contract also includes either a 3% increase or a ratification bonus in the first year, a guaranteed minimum 3.5% pay increase in the second year, and a 3% pay increase in the third year. It also includes the option to be paid out for comp time, guaranteed minimum severance for layoffs, and employment protections for generative AI. That latter includes 1.5 times severance if laid off because of AI implementation. The contract also includes codification of existing remote work policies through Dec. 31, 2027, with employees on a hybrid schedule not required to work more than two days in the office, while fully remote workers can continue to do so. Beth Godvik, WGAE VP of broadcast/cable/streaming/news, said in a statement, 'Establishing protections like guaranteed raises and pay that actually matches the job duties being performed will allow our members to build sustainable careers in news.' A CBS News spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment. Boeing Defense Workers Reject Contract In Sign of Labor Turmoil
Boeing Co. faces a risk of a strike in its St. Louis defense hub after union workers rejected a contract offer that would boost their wages by 20% over four years. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 837, which represents 3,200 Boeing defense workers in Missouri and Illinois, voted against the new terms Sunday.

Police association in Wisconsin's largest city calls city's labor tactics a ‘betrayal' of its officers
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WFRV) – The Milwaukee Police Association (MPA) released a statement on Friday afternoon calling the City of Milwaukee's labor contract actions a 'betrayal' to its officers. The statement comes as negotiations for a new labor agreement continue following the expiration of the previous one in December 2022. Since at least September 2023, the two sides have gone back and forth; however, the MPA says the city has hindered progress. FCC approves Paramount's $8 billion deal with Skydance, capping months of turmoil 'Since at least September 2023—following the enactment of Act 12—the MPA has worked in good faith to bring this matter to resolution through every available legal and procedural channel: direct negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Each time, our progress has been derailed by the City's dysfunction, disorganization, and deliberate delay.' Milwaukee Police Association According to the MPA, officers' continued service has come despite not having a contract or wage increase for over 2.5 years. The MPA's release said the City of Milwaukee is now delaying arbitration to 'spend tax dollars and hire outside lawyers.' In addition, the MPA expressed continued gratitude for the support from the public after the unexpected fatal shooting of their colleague, . Officer Corder's funeral was throughout the state. Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker makes cryptic hints at running again after Evers' decision to not seek 3rd term The following statement concluded the release, calling on city officials to stand with the police officers: 'The MPA will not be deterred. We will continue to fight for a contract that reflects the professionalism and sacrifice of Milwaukee's police officers. The Mayor and Common Council must answer one question: who do you stand with?
