The weekend begins on a sunny note with a second straight day of little or no cloud coverage.
And while we're headed for a period of much warmer weather overall, another lake-enhanced cold front will briefly interrupt the warmth Saturday afternoon.
Highs are likely to reach the 70s for many locations, even the low 80s far south/southwest suburbs, but the winds will shift to the northeast and strengthen during the afternoon, gusting to near 30 mph at times, sending the mercury plummeting again.
Saturday will be a good day to leave the boat docked at the harbor. As the lake-enhanced cold front slides down the length of Lake Michigan, winds will increase from the north 15-30 mph, gusting even higher at times.
As a result, waves will increase to 6+ feet during the afternoon prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Small Craft Advisory.
