It started with a game of bridge in 1961.
Mort Meyerson, a recent liberal-arts graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, was doing his Army service as a lieutenant and had no career plan. He happened to play in a bridge tournament with a civilian Army employee responsible for data processing.
