Coventry's first female bishop installed at cathedral

Coventry's first female Bishop has been officially installed during a service at the city's Right Reverend Sophie Jelley, the tenth Bishop of Coventry, was welcomed by three young people from schools in the diocese as the service began on Saturday the Bishop of Doncaster, she has taken on responsibility for 201 parishes across Warwickshire and Jelley has succeeded the Rt Rev Dr Christopher Cocksworth, who left the diocese in November last year. The cathedral bells rang and a choir of children from eight local schools sang as dignitaries including MPs, council and business leaders assembled for the bishop, escorted by the Archdeacon of Canterbury, led the Litany of Reconciliation from the cathedral ruins before proceeding through the main building's doors, which were thrown wide open in welcome. During the service, Bishop Jelley took oaths of allegiance and obedience before receiving the Diocesan Crozier - a curved staff - from the High Altar where it was placed by her predecessor when he left in gave her inaugural sermon before enjoying a performance of Sing, written by Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber, from the combined schools bishop was then presented with symbolic gifts representative of the diocese's heritage, including a jar of honey from a local farmer and a goose quill from Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The service finished with an episcopal Jelley, who is married and has three grown-up children, said on her appointment she looked forward to sharing "the story of God's love with the people of Coventry and Warwickshire". Schoolchildren share special messages for Father's Day supplement in the News & Star

Schoolchildren from across the region have shared special messages to celebrate Father's Day. Pupils from 12 local schools sent messages for their fathers and father-figures which will be be published by the News & Star in a Father's Day supplement on Wednesday June 11. The supplement is part of a call out for messages across the north of England which saw 90 schools taking part, sharing 14,000 messages. It will feature messages from pupils of Our Lady and St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Ewanrigg Junior School, Beckstone Primary School, Orgill Primary School, St Bridget's Catholic Primary School, Longtown Primary School, Wreay CofE Primary School, Crosby-on-Eden CofE School, Lowca Community School, Moor Row Community Primary School, Shankhill CofE Primary School and Stainton CofE Primary School Families of the schools involved in the initiative will have the opportunity to order copies in advance to be delivered to them. The News & Star is just one of 11 titles across the north of England celebrating Father's Day with dedications from school children including The Mail, The Northern Echo and the Lancashire Telegraph. Man sought after boy touched and chased in Finchampstead

Police have issued a CCTV image of a person they want to trace after a young boy was reportedly touched inappropriately and chased by a Valley Police said the suspect was at the sports pavilion by Finchampstead Baptist Church Centre on Gorse Ride North on Sunday at about 15:45 was reported to have touched a boy inappropriately over his clothing before chasing force said he also appeared to be taking photos and was seen approaching children aged between 10 and 11. Police are urging witnesses and anyone who recognises the man to come Sgt Pauline Cameron said: "I appreciate that local residents will be concerned to hear of this report, and would like to reassure you that we are taking this incident seriously and our enquiries are ongoing."We will be carrying out additional patrols in the area and have been working alongside local schools to make them aware of the incident and provide any necessary support."
