4 Dead, 6 missing, 21 rescued after offshore barge capsizes in Gulf of Suez

ALBAWABA- At least four people have died and six others remain missing after a marine barge capsized in the Gulf of Suez, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum confirmed on Tuesday.
The vessel was reportedly part of an offshore oil operation and sank while being towed. Twenty-one individuals were successfully rescued during ongoing recovery efforts.
According to an official statement from the ministry, the Offshore Shukeir Oil Company (OSOCO) first reported the incident, alerting authorities to the overturned vessel in the Gulf of Suez. Emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and a search operation remains underway for the missing.
The barge was reportedly engaged in petroleum-related operations in a region critical to Egypt's oil and gas production. Egyptian media said the capsizing has raised concerns over the area's safety protocols and environmental risks.
The Petroleum Ministry stated that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the incident and ensure all safety measures were followed. Officials have yet to release the victims' names or confirm the barge's ownership.
