Taco Bell Turns Heads With New Spin on Fan-Favorite Menu Items

There's nothing like the return of a fan-favorite menu item -- especially when said item is deep-fried and smothered with charred steak, blistering jalapeños, and layers of nacho cheese. Indeed, in an exciting new development for Taco Bell's extensive menu, the global fast food giant has officially brought back some of their most popular past menu items. More recently, Taco Bell has set the food industry ablaze with their Crispy Chicken nuggets: a mouthwatering take on a popular fast food menu item. In the hopes of further capitalizing on the Crispy Chicken's revived popularity, Taco Bell is also testing out new menu items centered around the decadent protein option, as revealed by noteworthy food journalist markie_devo in a recent Instagram post. Above all else, Taco Bell is currently offering a slew of items with Crispy Chicken as its main ingredient, including a Crispy Chicken Burrito and Crispy Chicken Tacos. The Burrito will come filled with a mixture of Crispy Chicken, lettuce, purple cabbage, pico de gallo and cheddar cheese, with the optional addition of either spicy Ranchero or Avocado Ranch sauce. Meanwhile, Taco Bell's latest Taco creation is filled with Crispy Chicken, lettuce, purple cabbage, pico de gallo, shredded cheddar cheese and a choice of either of Ranchero or Avocado Ranch sauce as well. Taco Bell is also currently testing out a new shareable platter dubbed the Loaded Steak and Jalapeños Topped Fries. Based on Taco Bell's ultra popular Nacho Fries from 2018, the dish comes served with a healthy smothering of molten nacho cheese, grilled steak, a creamy jalapeño sauce and enough pickled jalapeños to leave your tongue tingling for days after the fact. While these experimental new items are available at limited locations within Charlotte, North Carolina, Taco Bell has reportedly planned to further emphasize Crispy Chicken on its menu well into 2026. Popular breakfast fast-food chain quietly leaks new summer menu

Although some might claim they aren't breakfast eaters, few can resist a good fast-food breakfast run before work. Just think about how many people arrive late to the office with a to-go bag in hand. Because of the increased revenue that opening for a few extra hours in the morning can generate, more chains are beginning to introduce breakfast menus. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Fast-food giants like McDonald's (MCD) and Starbucks (SBUX) have used this strategy to their advantage for decades, and other chains like Portillo's are starting to enter the breakfast market by testing it in select locations for a limited time. This week, the second part of the Dunkin' Summer 2025 menu was leaked, and this drop might be one of its largest - not just beverage-wise but also regarding food. It seems like a savvy move, as more chains are adding breakfast items to their menus. Related: Dunkin' launches surprising summer beverages to outdo Starbucks In addition to its beverage offerings, Dunkin' is introducing the new Chipotle Hash Brown Wake-Up Wrap. This wrap is similar to its original Bacon Egg & Cheese Wake-Up Wrap, but is stuffed with hash browns and topped with smoky chipotle aioli. The coffee chain is also adding two pastry items: the new Braided Apple Pie and the Ham & Cheese Croissant Stuffer. The Dunkin' fandom is intense, so to keep its loyal members in mind, the coffee chain is rewarding them with a new in-app exclusive, Bacon Egg & Cheese on a plain bagel with Chipotle Aioli. These new menu additions will drop beginning June 25 and be available at all participating Dunkin' locations nationwide until August 19, as reported by @markie_devo on Instagram. Image source: Corbis/Getty Images In December of last year, Dunkin' introduced its new $5 Meal Deal, which includes a hot or iced coffee and a selection of two Wake-Up Wraps. This value meal was launched to replace its popular $6 Meal Deal and give customers new options for a dollar less. However, it's impossible to please everyone, and the substitution sparked backlash from customers, who thought the $6 Meal Deal was a better offer. Related: McDonald's menu adds experimental new items fans will love For the first part of its summer menu release at the beginning of May, Dunkin' returned the $6 Meal Deal due to popular demand, offering a medium hot or iced coffee, hash browns, and a Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich. Now that the second part of its summer menu has been leaked, Dunkin' will return the $5 Meal Deal. Switching this offering every few months could be a strategic move to please more customers. As if all the new additions weren't exciting enough, Dunkin' is getting patriotic and celebrating the 4th of July by launching the new Spangled Donut, which is filled with vanilla buttercream, dipped in blue icing, and topped with 4th of July sprinkles. The coffee chain will also add three 4th of July Takeover Donuts. These patriotic treats will be available from June 25 to July 22. Starbucks brings back popular menu items after major cuts

Summer is only a few weeks away, and it seems like no one is more excited than fast-food chains, since they have already begun dropping their summer menus. Seasonal menus are a popular tradition in the restaurant sector because businesses can test new products and experiment with seasonal ingredients. These menus let chain restaurants keep up with trends without investing too heavily in something that might not work in the long run. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Starbucks has been suffering some of the most troublesome quarters in its history, with continuous sales declines and a slowdown in traffic that have affected its finances. Related: Starbucks makes major change in rewards program loyal fans will hate To put the business back on track, CEO Brian Niccol emphasized the need to return the company to its roots by focusing on its core products, personalizing the coffee shop experience, and keeping prices from increasing. This led him to formulate a multi-year turnaround plan that has changed the company from the inside out in all aspects, especially its menu. Image source:One of the main short-term issues Starbucks (SBUX) needed to address was its menu. It had become too complex, was damaging efficiency, did not prioritize coffee quality, and elevated prices due to the large number of available customizations. To quickly resolve this problem, Starbucks began simplifying its menu, reducing customization options, and eliminating extra charges for milk alternatives. Related: Starbucks faces huge new rival However, this meant that some customers would unfortunately no longer be able to order their favorite menu items, at least for now. In February, many customers' nightmares came true: Starbucks discontinued nine beloved Frappuccinos from both the coffee-based and crème categories, nearly halving the available options. Although many might have thought the shrinking of its menu meant no more seasonal menu launches, they were wrong, because Starbucks released the first part of its summer menu on May 20. The menu included the Summer-Berry Refreshers, which can be ordered with water, coconut milk, or lemonade. It also introduced the new Iced Horchata and the Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop. However, Starbucks was far from done with its seasonal releases, as its late summer menu for 2025 was leaked by @markie_devo on Instagram this week. In celebration of the 4th of July, Starbucks is releasing a new Firework Frappuccino. It has a Summer-Berry Refresher base blended with ice and coconut milk and featuring raspberry pearls, strawberry puree, and a topping of vanilla sweet cream cold foam. This item is speculated to become available at all locations nationwide starting July 1 to 7. These consist of a coffee or crème Frappuccino base topped with flavored cream cold foam. The Strato Frappuccinos, which are expected to drop on July 8, will feature three flavors: Salted Caramel Mocha, Strawberry Matcha, and Brown Sugar. During its menu cuts, Starbucks discontinued the Double Chocolate Brownie at the beginning of May. However, that didn't last long because, due to popular demand, Starbucks is reintroducing it, likely on June 23. Dunkin' launches surprising summer beverages to outdo Starbucks

Nowadays, there seem to be fewer uniquely creative ideas, especially in the food industry. Since their inception, every fast-food chain, from Starbucks to McDonald's, has tried to outdo competitors by creating innovative menu items and products that set them apart. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Now many chains have also begun to take ideas from one another, leading some to cross the fine line between innovation and imitation. Related: McDonald's to close all its CosMc's experimental spin-off locations Recently, beverages have become a top focus in the food industry, leading them to bank on this trend by investing time and resources in developing unique beverages that often overlap with each other. In just the last few weeks, McDonald's (MCD) launched a housemade lemonade, which Chick-fil-A has offered for years, and Wendy's (WEN) introduced its Frosty Swirls and Fusions, which could be compared to Dairy Queen's Blizzard and McDonald's McFlurry. Image source:This week, the second part of Dunkin's Summer 2025 menu was leaked, surprising fans with many unexpected new and returning menu additions set to drop beginning June 25 and remain available at all participating locations nationwide until August 19, as reported by @markie_devo on Instagram. As the post claims, Dunkin' is returning two drinks to its Energy Mixology lineup: the Cherry Berry Twist and the Peach Cherry Twist. The coffee chain is also introducing a new Refresher, the Strawberry Dragonfruit Dunkin' Refresher, made with oatmilk and topped with sweet cold foam. Although it might be new to Dunkin's menu, Starbucks fans would say it's very similar to the coffee chain's Dragonfruit Drink, and the same goes for its entire lineup of Refreshers. Related: Starbucks faces huge new rival To make this summer a bit cooler, Dunkin' is returning its Melted Ice Cream Frozen Coffees with a lineup that will include the Cookie Dough Frozen Coffee, Mint Chocolate Chip Frozen Coffee, and Butter Pecan Frozen Coffee. For all the matcha lovers out there, Dunkin' will also begin implementing a new process for crafting its Iced Matcha Lattes, which Devo claims will include the Island Oasis or Vitamix. Although this may not be a new menu item, Dunkin's change coincidentally follows Starbucks's recent replacement of its sweetened matcha with a new, unsweetened version in response to consumer feedback and demand. Loyalty is everything to many fast-food chains, so Dunkin' is dropping new in-app exclusive beverages to make its members feel extra special this summer. These include the Mint Chocolate Chip Signature Latte and Cookie Dough Cold Foam Iced Coffee. Taco Bell drops more Crispy Chicken menu items in surprise launch

Taco Bell is on an innovation kick, developing many delicious new menu items and launching one after the other. This strategic business move has worked for the brand, as its same-store sales increased by 11% in 2025 compared to the year prior, boosting its growth immensely. Fortunately for fans, it's not over yet, because it has dropped even more unique creations. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter In March, Taco Bell revealed 30 new menu items it would introduce in 2025, along with many exciting partnerships. Related: Taco Bell reveals 30 new menu items launching in 2025 However, this fast-food chain is full of surprises, and either inadvertently or intentionally, it left out a few new additions to keep consumers on their toes. No fast-food chain is complete without fries on its menu, but Yum! Brands' (YUM) Taco Bell somehow got away with this for decades. It might have taken a few years, but perfection takes time, and Taco Bell used it to its advantage. It introduced the Nacho Fries in 2018 as a limited-time menu item, and people went wild. This might be because these fries are unlike any other. Like most fries, they are hot and crispy, but Taco Bell made them its own by adding Mexican spices. Related: Taco Bell takes its Mexican menu somewhere unexpected Eventually, the fries were discontinued and would make surprise drops seasonally. However, Taco Bell has brought them back, and this time, they are extra loaded. The new Loaded Steak & Jalapeño Topped Fries feature Taco Bell's beloved Nacho Fries topped with nacho cheese sauce, grilled marinated steak, creamy jalapeño sauce, and pickled jalapeños. This new menu item is available for a limited time at all participating Taco Bell locations nationwide, as seen on the chain's website. To continue with the chicken trend and please its chicken-loving fans, Taco Bell recently reintroduced its Crispy Chicken nuggets and is now dropping two more Crispy Chicken items. The Crispy Chicken Taco is filled with Crispy Chicken, purple cabbage, crisp lettuce, pico de gallo, and shredded cheddar cheese, all folded inside a warm tortilla. This menu item comes with a choice of spicy Ranchero or creamy Avocado Ranch sauce. Unfortunately, these two Crispy Chicken drops are test items available for a limited time only at select locations in Charlotte, North Carolina, as reported by @markie_devo on Instagram. Although these menu additions will only be offered to a select few, Taco Bell has mentioned its intentions to make the Crispy Chicken a permanent part of the menu by 2026.
