(Credit: TikTok/@maxwellstobbe) Authorities have issued a public warning after a man was attacked by a cougar near Squamish, B.C., this week. The attack happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, while the man was mountain biking along Brohm Ridge, in the Alpine Capone area, according to the B.C. Conservation Officer Service. 'The cougar made contact and continued to follow him down the trail,' the BCCOS said Friday, in a social media post. The wildcat pursued the mountain biker for approximately 20 minutes before he was able to scare the animal away. 'The man, who was walking backwards holding his bike, managed to throw rocks at the cougar, which disengaged,' the BCCOS said. The BCCOS noted the incident happened near Garibaldi Provincial Park, where trails were closed earlier this summer due to aggressive cougar activity. Officers are currently 'unable to confirm if this incident is linked to one of the cougars involved' in the previous scare, the BCCOS said.
