I was looking at it this afternoon and thought, "wouldn't it be lovely to win",' he told The Lott officials. He planned to look after loved ones following a 'rough trot'. 'For a start, I'll look at buying a new house and looking after the family. Then I'll take it from there,' he said. 'I used to wonder what I'd do if I got a winning phone call, but now all I can do is shake.' The next Powerball draw is on Thursday June 5 In the 2025 financial year, 395 Australians have taken home a division one Powerball prize. Of those, more than a third (120) were from NSW. The Lott recorded 422 division one winners in 2024, including 19 Powerball entries who pocketed more than $758million in prizemoney. During that time, Powerball offered a $200million jackpot, the biggest in Australian history, and an Adelaide man who won $150million became the nation's biggest individual lottery winner. ‘Thank goodness they send those reminders,' Markham man says he missed initial email about $1M lotto win
Markham resident Peter Hedgecock had to be reminded that he won the $1-million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Draw in March. 'I hadn't seen the original email OLG sent about my win,' Hedgecock told the lottery commission when he visited its Toronto prize centre to claim his winnings. 'I only realized I'd won big when I received a second reminder email.' However, even after reading that email, Hedgecock remained somewhat skeptical about his win. 'When I read it, I was in a state of shock — half of me didn't believe it. Thank goodness they send those reminders!' he said. Hedgecock, who has been playing the lottery for nearly 20 years, also recounted how he shared the news with his wife, who was sleeping at the time. 'I went to bed and whispered to her, 'Honey, we won $1 million.' She was half asleep and told me to go away,' he said. The father of three, who purchased his ticket online, shared that he plans to put his winnings toward his retirement. 'Winning is a humbling feeling,' he told OLG with a smile.

Slot machine visit ends in $2 million jackpot at Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que.
A man is a millionaire after playing the slot machines at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que. Loto-Quebec says Jonathan Robert Anderson was visiting the area last Thursday when he went to the casino. Anderson won $2.2 million playing the Monte Carlo slot machine. 'When he saw the amount displayed on the slot machine, he couldn't believe his eyes,' Loto-Quebec said in a statement. 'The attendants, happy to validate such a win, were quickly able to confirm that he had become a millionaire!' Anderson called his wife and parents to share the news he was now a millionaire. Loto-Quebec says Anderson is considering buying a bigger house but plans to return to work. The holder of the 'bad beat hand' won $1.005 million from the 'Bad Beat Jackpot,' while the winner, who had a straight flush, received $502,711, according to Loto-Québec. The agency says the other six players at the table won nearly $84,000, while the other 38 players in the lounge each won just over $13,000.
