Fears Lorraine Kelly could QUIT ITV show after it's slashed by 30 mins and guest presenters let go
THERE are fresh fears this morning that Lorraine Kelly could QUIT her show, following the news ITV has slashed it to 30 mins and her guest presenters have been let go. The beloved morning host, 65, who underwent surgery earlier this month, has yet to comment directly on the news. 4 4 Yesterday it was revealed how ITV were making drastic cuts to their morning show Lorraine, and lunchtime's Loose Women in a bid to save money. Now, sources say that staff on Lorraine are fearing the legendary host could quit. In a very drastic move, LK's show will be slashed from an hour to 30minutes, and will only air for 30 weeks out of 52. The changes mean fewer appearances from Lorraine, who has hosted her self-titled programme since 2010 and been with ITV since the 80s, and follows speculation about her future on the channel. Her regular stand-ins, Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh, will provide holiday cover but will not host the show on a Friday anymore. Even though ITV boss Kevin Lygo has insisted that all presenters will remain the same across all affected programmes, a source told The Mirror: 'There are genuine fears among staff that Lorraine may decide to walk if the quality of the show they are putting out declines. "It's hard to see how standards won't fall….and there are questions over whether Lorraine will want to be associated with that. "Lorraine and her team are perfectionists - it's why the show is loved by so many.' The source added that the move was a 'kick in the teeth' for the show. A second insider added: 'This is a presenter who has just come back from having an operation, has won a BAFTA, is enjoying record ratings….and then ITV show their appreciation by yanking her off air half the year. "Staff are beside themselves, and have been in tears constantly. Lorraine Kelly struggles to keep straight face in most bizarre interview to date "It doesn't make any sense given the trajectory the show is on.' Altogether, ITV is slashing 220 jobs, as it aims for cost savings of up to £50million. ITV confirmed in a dramatic statement that from January 2026, the show will air 9.30am to 10am, and only for 30 weeks a year. The move comes as part of a major overhaul of ITV's Daytime schedule, which will also see Good Morning Britain extended to 9.30am and produced by ITV News at ITN. This Morning and Loose Women will continue but share production resources in a cost-cutting blitz. ITV says savings made will go into dramas and major sporting events, including the next football World Cup. BRAVE FACE Although Lorraine is yet to comment publicly on the cuts, yesterday she put on a brave face as she relaxed in her garden in photos on Instagram. She said in an upbeat message to fans, shortly before the announcement: 'The sun is shining, I'm on the mend, and it feels so good to be getting back in the garden." Lorraine underwent 'preventative' surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes. After a brief recovery period, she was back on our screens on Monday.

EXCLUSIVE 'Lorraine used to rule with an iron first. But bosses take a dim view of her recent behaviour': Poisonous whispers revealed as ITV insiders snitch to KATIE HIND truth about daytime TV 'bloodbath'
There's a long-standing joke among the junior ranks at ITV that Lorraine Kelly spends more time cutting ribbons than she does hosting Lorraine, the morning show named in her honour. They may well have a point. In March, for example, she opened a new branch of clothes shop Bonmarché in High Wycombe's Eden Centre, while last July she unveiled a new studio for Marlow FM in Buckinghamshire.

BBC Breakfast viewers have A LOT of complaints as Sally Nugent shows up late to show with a chaotic excuse - fuming 'are we expected to believe this?!'
BBC Breakfast viewers rushed to social media to share their complaints after Sally Nugent showed up late to Wednesday's instalment of the show with a chaotic excuse. The journalist, 53 - who usually presents the morning programme Monday to Wednesday with Jon Kay - appeared on the sofa at around 6:20am. After weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, 62, shared what viewers could expect from Wednesday's weather, she said: 'Hello Sally' at the end of her segment. Jon joked: 'Good afternoon!' Sally said: 'I made it everyone.' 'It's so nice to see you,' Carol told her co-star. The journalist, 53 - who usually presents the morning programme Monday to Wednesday with Jon Kay - appeared on the sofa at around 6:20am Sally continued: 'It's so nice to be here. Sorry I am a little bit late.' Jon told viewers: 'There was a little bit of drama. Are you alright?' Sally said: 'Aw yes Jon, I'm okay thank you. I got stuck in a car, where our studios are, by the Quays, there's lots of water and bridges. 'I got stuck because a bridge came up to let two boats through. One bridge couldn't close again, so there has been lots of people trying to close the bridge, people in high-vis jackets, staring at it, pointing at it, so that took about 40 minutes.' Jon chimed in: 'Yeah the best part of an hour! Sally was texting me like "I can't get to work!"' Sally added: 'But do you know what happened, as ever, the Breakfast family kicked in and our John Watson was at the back of the traffic jam. 'I safely left my car, ran all along the bridge and John rescued me and driven me in!' Jon said: 'If you were going to be rescued, John Watson is the man to rescue you. James Bond.' Sally told viewers: 'So apologies that I am a little bit late... 'Did I miss anything?' Jon joked: 'Just the news! Thank goodness you're here.' 'Thank goodness, YOU'RE here!,' Sally replied. Those watching at home did take to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their confusion about where Sally was. One said: 'Was wondering why Jon was on his own at the start of the programme. Are we expected to believe this story about bridge malfunctions on Salford Quays from lie-abed Sally?' 'Has Sally Nugent slept in or has she just had enough of working with Jon Kay. Who could blame her.' Another brutally added: '#bbcbreakfast There 's only one thing worse than Jon and Sally presenting Breakfast... And that's Jon presenting it on his own.. ' Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts on Sally not being on their screens It comes after BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt gasped 'are you okay?!' as Naga Munchetty wobbled on the sofa and warned 'I feel faint' in the middle of the broadcast. The pair had just turned to look right down the camera lens after interviewing a guest when Naga, 50, suddenly seemed to slip briefly off the edge of the sofa. She said, laughing nervously: 'Five minutes to - oh, nearly fell off the chair then! Five minutes to nine...' Her co-host, 62, slightly baffled at the randomness of the moment, gestured to the sofa and replied: 'I don't know what to say, it stayed in the same place, it's quite secure!' Naga quickly reassured him, saying, 'It was just my hand, it's just my hand slipped' - before her face fell and she suddenly went serious, putting her hand to forehead to admit: 'Feeling all faint.'

BBC Breakfast star reveals future on sofa and says job is a ‘rollercoaster' after taking over from show favourite
A POPULAR BBC Breakfast star has revealed his future on the famous sofa, after taking over from a show favourite. Jon Kay, 55, has been a part of BBC Breakfast since 2009, however he got his big break on the show when Dan Walker left. 4 4 The journalist is now one of the anchors on the Beeb's flagship morning show, after Dan quit in 2022. Jon has now given an update on his job - which sees him co-host Monday to Wednesday alongside Sally Nugent, 53. The popular presenter revealed he has no plans to retire from BBC Breakfast anytime soon. Speaking at last night's BAFTA TV awards, where BBC Breakfast won the news coverage gong for its Post Office Special, he was asked how long he sees himself hosting the show. "I've no idea. All I know is I'm not doing it tomorrow! I've got tomorrow off after this," Jon told the Daily Star. He added: "I love it, I've been doing it, what, two year, Sunday night? I seriously love getting up every morning and doing it." Jon previously admitted that he has FIVE cups of coffee to keep him awake in the studio, due to the early starts. "I've gone so far with coffee that I think I would sleep less and feel worse if I didn't have it," he told viewers. BECOMING A BBC BREAKFAST STAR Jon got his big break when it was announced in July 2022 that he would become the main presenter of BBC Breakfast. Before that, he was a fill-in host for when the regular presenters were off. But Jon got his dream job when he took over the role from Dan, who left after six years in the job, for a position at Channel 5 News. Announcing the news at the time, Jon said: "So delighted to share this news and join the outstanding @BBCBreakfast team full time. "An absolute honour to front the UK's number one morning show with my mates @sallynugent @TVNaga01 and Charlie (and his new cat!)" 4
