'Insta-Famous' With Rolex, Royal Enfield, Thar: Punjab's Lady Constable Arrested In Graft Case
Last Updated: Earlier dismissed from service for the alleged possession of heroin, the former cop was arrested for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income A constable in the Punjab Police living a life of luxury may sound far-fetched, but that does not apply to Amandeep Kaur. A Mahindra Thar, a Royal Enfield motorcycle, a Rolex watch, two iPhones, and plots worth over a crore are only some of the former cop's high-end assets. Not to forget her fame on Instagram as 'Thar wali' for dancing to and glorifying Punjabi songs about guns and violence. Earlier dismissed from service in April for the alleged possession of heroin, on Monday (May 26) Amandeep — out on bail in the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) case — was once again arrested for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. She is now facing corruption charges in Bathinda following an inquiry. After the initial spurt of news following her arrest in the NDPS case, her interview with a Punjabi Youtuber got more than 2 million views. In it, she responded to questions claiming that her houses, cars, watches and other luxury belongings seen in her videos were either bought on loan or were gifts from NRI relatives. Calling the alleged seizure of heroin from her a conspiracy, Amandeep said the contraband was planted on her. About her Instagram fame and Reels made on Punjabi songs glorifying guns and violence, she said she was entitled to enjoying herself and dancing to songs. 'Just because I am in the police does not mean that I cannot dance," Amandeep said in the interview. About the alleged Rolex seen on her wrist in one of her videos, she said the watch is with the police and they can probe its origins however they want. According to an official spokesperson of the Punjab vigilance bureau, details of the former cop's movable and immovable properties acquired between 2018 and 2025 were scrutinised during investigation along with her salary, bank accounts and loan records. The probe revealed that she had a total income of Rs 1,08,37,550 during the said period while her expenditure stood at Rs 1,39,64,802.97 which is Rs 31,27,252.97 more than her known sources of income, and that amounts to 28.85 per cent beyond her legitimate earnings. A case was registered on May 26 based on these findings under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Bathinda range, the spokesperson said. Further investigation is underway, he added. Earlier in April, Amandeep was dismissed from service after she was arrested for carrying 17.71 grams of heroin in Bathinda district. She was caught by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. She, however, released on bail by a court in Bathinda on May 2. Mavericks Reportedly Showing Interest in Former Lakers Star
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Despite not being in the NBA playoffs, the Dallas Mavericks are at the top of the NBA world. In a shocking turn of events, Dallas somehow won the NBA Draft lottery, giving them the opportunity to draft Duke star Cooper Flagg. More NBA news: Tyrese Haliburton's Dad Has NBA Ban Lifted for Pacers-Knicks Game 4 Adding Flagg to a team alongside Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving gives the Mavericks a legitimate chance to win next season. But Dallas will need other pieces to complement the stars on the roster. Irvng will be coming off a torn ACL, so Dallas could look to bring in another guard to help take the pressure off him. The Mavericks have multiple options entering the summer, but it seems that one name has emerged. According to a new report from Insider Marc Stein, the Mavericks could look at Chicago Bulls star guard Lonzo Ball as a trade target. Dallas is expected to look at multiple names, with Ball being thrown out as an option. "League sources say Dallas is expected to at least explore whether there are any feasible trade pathways to Boston's Jrue Holiday — complicated as that would likely be given the three years and $104 million still left on Holiday's contract — while also maintaining an interest in a far more reasonable trade target as we've discussed on the DLLS Mavs podcast: Lonzo name to monitor for Dallas: Chris Paul. The free agent-to-be just turned 40 on May 6, but Paul also just played (and started) 82 games in his maiden season as a San Antonio Spur." LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 02: Lonzo Ball #2 of the Los Angeles Lakers drives past Russell Westbrook #0 of the Oklahoma City Thunder during a 107-100 Thunder win at Staples Center on January 02, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. More Photo byDallas would need to trade for Ball, but his contract is very movable for the Bulls. Ball just signed an extension with Chicago, so he will be making $10 million in each of the next two seasons. The Mavericks could easily make a deal happen, and they have pieces that Chicago may find interesting. Bringing in Ball could allow Irving more time to fully heal, and Ball showed that he could still perform well last season. After missing a significant amount of time due to injury, Ball finally made his return last year. In 35 games played, Ball averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. The former No. 2 overall pick could be a nice addition for the Mavericks and help them round out the roster. But like with any rumor, everything remains fluid at this point in the offseason. Entry to all ASI sites to be free on International Museum Day
Entry to all sites and museums under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) across the country will be free on Sunday in view of the International Museum Day . There are 3,698 protected monuments and sites, and 52 museums under the ambit of the ASI. "The ASI is pleased to announce that entry to all ASI monuments and museums across the country will be free on May 18, on the occasion of International Museum Day," the Culture Ministry said in a statement. The International Museum Day highlights the vital role that museums play in preserving cultural heritage , promoting education, and fostering dialogue across communities and generations. This year to encourage wider public participation, the ASI is offering free access to its network of 52 site museums and all ticketed monuments across the country, which house some of India's most treasured archaeological artefacts, from prehistoric tools and sculptures to medieval inscriptions, and more, the statement said. "This initiative seeks to deepen public engagement with India's rich cultural legacy and to provide a meaningful platform for people to reconnect with history and heritage," it said. Live Events The ASI also has a dedicated Museum Wing which deals with maintenance and management of its site museums, which includes one at Sarnath site (1910) being the earliest in the series of archaeological site museums located across the country, the ministry said. The concept of archaeological site museums sought to preserve and display the excavated and movable artefacts near the site so that the displayed objects don't lose its context and may be studied by researchers and visitors alike while visiting the site, it said. Recently, India's first underground museum at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Humayun's Tomb was inaugurated, along with the Virtual Experiential Museum at Man Mahal Observatory, Varanasi and Archaeological site of Lalitagiri at Odisha, the ministry added. ASI site museums are being upgraded to facilitate the need of every section of the society, and with modern interventions like AR-VR (augmented reality-virtual reality) also being incorporated to give visitors a holistic experience, officials said.
