Kylie Jenner Took Summer's Polka Dot Nail Trend to the Next Level

Getty Images Leave it to Kylie Jenner to take summer's polka dot nail art trend to a whole 'nother level. The reality star and Kylie Cosmetics founder, known for her glamorous approach to all things hair, makeup, and style, combined the classic dotted style with two more nail trends for something that feels 100 percent Kylie. Jenner has been enjoying a European vacation with friends and her children, Stormi and Aire (did you catch her adorable GWRM video with Stormi?), and, well, you can't enjoy the summer sunshine without a manicure to match! Jenner worked with London-based manicurist Michelle Humphrey on her latest set, and Humphrey didn't just decorate Jenner's nails with medium-sized polka dots atop a sheer base—she mixed them up with a white-tipped French manicure and gave the dots a shiny finish for a little extra pizzazz. Jenner's nails were filed into a long oval shape and painted with a sheer base, like the one you'd typically get with a French manicure. Humphrey then added the signature white tips of a French, but she and Jenner didn't stop there! Instead of regular polish dots, the two went for something with a bit more sparkle factor: chrome-finish metallic dots scattered all over the nail, including atop the white tips! Jenner wrote that she was 'obsessed' with the set and I am too. It manages to be both subtle and glam at the same time, so you could easily wear it to work or for a wedding or summer party and it would fit right in. The Kylie Cosmetics founder has been back into nail art this year, including with a snakeskin-printed set that would have been right at home on King Kylie Tumblr and the sweetest studded pastel French manicure. TBH, I often reference her tiny bug-themed manicure from last summer, which was so adorable and so out of character. (Those lime-green tips!) What's next for Jenner and her nail art? You know I'm paying attention. More fun celebrity manis: Megan Thee Stallion's Nails Are the Equivalent of Christian Louboutin Stilettos You Could Play "I Spy" with J. You Could Play "I Spy" with J. Lo's Glittery 3D Nails

Getty Images As the parent of a four-year-old, I play a lot of 'I Spy"—in the car, at restaurants, poring over the iconic I Spy book series. You know what would fit right in in the pages of those books? Jennifer Lopez's latest manicure! Lopez's concert nails, designed by her go-to manicurist Tom Bachik, are a visual feast with so many blink-and-you'll-miss-them references, they needed their own Instagram grid post. If you were watching her from the arena floor, you probably wouldn't get to see all the details, which is why we're so thankful Bachik posted a close-up at his work so we could pore over every intricately designed nail. The long, coffin-shaped nails were a mix of burgundy, milky pale pink, and gold tones, embellished with sparkling charms, gemstones, and pearls for a royal vibe. Lopez is currently traveling through Europe on her 'Up All Night' tour, which kicked off in Spain. However, the singer-actor-dancer brought a little bit of home to the stage with one of her nails, which featured the New York Yankees logo in gold and rhinestones; more gemstones danged from the 'Y," ending in a large garnet stone. There were bows, crosses, sacred hearts, and even what appears to be the Chanel interlocking 'C' logo, framed by dangling small pearls. See what I mean about 'I Spy?' I spy, with my little eye… Though Lopez typically wears a much more neutral manicure for her day-to-day life and red carpet events, she likes to go all out with her performance nail art. For a trip to Dubai, she and Bachik whipped up a Swarovski crystal butterfly manicure that we're still thinking about. When she performed at an Elie Saab show in late 2024, her nails were encrusted with even more Swarovski crystals for the definition of superstar sparkle. Lopez has a full touring schedule through mid-August; the 'Up All Night' tour takes her through Italy, Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, and more. We've got a feeling Bachik is already busy whipping up many more ornate manicures for us to ogle. Can't wait! Kat Dennings Covered Her Nails in the Stick-On Earrings of Your Youth

All products featured on Allure are independently selected by Allure editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, Condé Nast may earn an affiliate commission. Depending on when you grew up and how young you were when you got your ears pierced, you may get inordinately sentimental at the sight of tiny, colorful, plastic, flat-back gems. For so many of us, stick-on earrings were our only way to feel like a glamorous grown-up when we were kids. Then we'd move on to 'real' earrings, and the smooth, little jewels would end up either in the garbage, on your little niece's ears if the adhesive was still going strong, or in the bin your mom says you have to go through or she'll throw it out every time you visit. But while your piercings may not allow you to wear stick-on earrings today, Kat Dennings has come up with a way to keep the nostalgic glamour going via nail art. Over the weekend, Dennings posted clips of her impressively well-moisturized hands (drop the hand routine, Kat!) to both her Instagram Stories and grid, where she wrote, 'fave nails I've ever done ✨'—and it's easy to see why. On the Shifting Gears star's Instagram Stories, we see that the manicure started with a bin of multicolor gems in shapes like hearts, crescent moons, flowers, marquise, and more. It should be noted that Dennings, who did her nails herself, didn't buy packs upon packs of stick-on earrings (which are still readily available for purchase pretty much everywhere you'd imagine they are). Instead, she used adhesive jewels intended specifically for manicures. But the resemblance is truly uncanny—and super-cute. After doing a fabulous job shaping her nails—which had just recently been a vibrant shade of royal blue—into a lovely almond silhouette. Then, the pale pink base polish (the timeless Essie Ballet Slippers) was topped off with a seemingly random smattering of the eye-catching gems, attached with builder gel. Fans immediately clocked the likeness. 'These remind me of those press-on earring stickers us non-pierced-ears kids would wear,' one person wrote in the comments. Meanwhile, others asked if she did her nails herself, and she has confirmed with Allure that she did, in fact, create this masterpiece on her own. So this is definitely DIY-able, and definitely adorable. More fun celebrity manis: Megan Thee Stallion's Nails Are the Equivalent of Christian Louboutin Stilettos You Could Play "I Spy" with J. Cuban women embrace extravagant nail art despite economic hardships

HAVANA — Cuban women are embracing extravagant nail art with many willing to spend the money to have extremely long and intricate nails despite the economic obstacles. While over-the-top nail designs have long been common elsewhere, in Cuba they stand out because most Cubans have little disposable income and procuring the embellishments isn't easy. A deepening economic crisis makes almost every aspect of life in Cuba challenging for the population; long lines for buses, power outages and shortages are part of everyday life on the island. For those who have mastered the work, whether from online video tutorials or visiting manicurists from other countries, extravagant nails have become an important source of income in Cuba's limited private economy . Recently, Cuban manicurist Marisel Darias Valdés spent nearly six hours applying and decorating the acrylic extensions for a client. She set up a nail salon at her home in Havana, where she displays the specialized, imported products that are expensive and very difficult to obtain in the city. The nails that Darias decorated for her client, Mariam Camila Sosa, were at least an inch (2.5 centimeters) long. Sosa chose the cartoon character Sponge Bob because it is her daughter's favorite. The designs of the paintings and nail decorations are varied and all handmade. With this level of detail, Darias said she could not handle more than two clients per day. 'Before it was a half-hour service,' she said. 'They were table manicures, natural paint and that's it; now it's all become art, it's not just fix them and you're done.' 'Cuban women are very vain. They may lack food, but their nails, hair, eyelashes, and feet always have to be well-groomed,' Darias said. There is no official figure on the number of these specialized businesses, but since the pandemic, the small private spaces have flourished, and some have turned it into an art form. Manicurists have also learned to become content creators with sophisticated social media accounts to promote and sell their services, taking advantage of Cuba's not-always-reliable connection to the internet . Manicurist Dayana Roche showcases some of her numerous social media postings. 'It is the fundamental tool to attract the public, the clients. And you have to create a lot of content (on social media) networks because that's where everyone sees your work,' said Roche. It's a way of earning a living. Some are university graduates, but this job offers a good alternative to low wages in a tough economic scenario. Each client agrees with their manicurist on the cost of the service, which can range from $10 to $40. That's a lot of money in a country where a monthly state salary is around 5,000 Cuban pesos (about $13), although many families rely on remittances from relatives abroad and state subsidies. The materials are brought into Cuba from the United States or Panama by the manicurists themselves or relatives, or they are bought from resellers in Cuba. A small bottle of professional nail polish alone can cost $15. Miralys Maura Cruz and her sister go about their daily domestic chores with surprising agility despite their crystal-adorned 2-inch nails. 'Without my nails, I'm nobody, I know they are not cheap, and nails are a luxury, it's my luxury,' said Cruz.
